my tips are
find parking garages
swap cars alot
stay off the free way and long open roads
lots of sharp turns
use back alleys
kill the pilot so the helicopter will just crash down go into subway tunnels
Do not even bother to engage them in a stand off fight your just going to be screwed.
I think the los sontos pay and spray is bugged as well.. i was off the radar with no cops in the area with alot of stars and it wouldnt let me in. After reading the guide it says it will only deny you access if you are in their sights. Well if the cops are in radar mode how am i in their sights if the blue cones are not even on me.

i did this but when i got to max altitude the engines popped and i went screaming back to earth lmao. so epic

That only happens if you are being shot at or you haven't put your landing gear away. I always go top max altitude and i get the red warning sign but the engines don't cut out.

ok yea i hadnt put the gear away yet and one of my engines got minor damage during takeoff.

IMO for survival

#1 - going under the water.
#2 - hiding in backyards
#3 - parking garages

ive found the water works pretty well. but you need to be able to swim under a tunnel or a bridge or a pier or something to break line of sight with some units. they will shoot into the water and hit you

Yeah I find detection in water to be hit or miss as well.

Sometimes I can get away in just high enough water, sometimes they shoot the crap out of me in deep water lol.

As Trevor I rarely try to escape high wanted ratings. It is too much fun to make a brutal last stand. Found a great place the other day which was the entrance into an a carpack beneath some apartments which had pillars to use as cover and no flanking oppurtunities. I was there for a while.

i did the samething, they were sending EVERYTHING at me but i was behind some pillars like you said and i could move to either side and pop off some shots or throw some bombs at groups. the building behind me kept the helis from moving around far enough to shoot.

I found a sweet spot... On the super tall skyscraper... land on the helipad spot. the top portion kinda looks octagonal it's easy to see.

land there. then get out and there is this little alcove.. and you can just go into cover and helicopters just keep coming..

I guess this is more for killing cops than getting rid of stars.. man, I was killing choppers for 30 minutes straight.

when you do the big heist and you have to getaway in the hidden car setup earlier (i did the obvious method) the cops are all over you bigtime. i actually ended up cutting down several alleys and side streets quickly to lose sight and then i was in the alley near franklins aunts house where there are all the single/double car garages that have a roof on them. i pulled into one and just sat there and the cops were all around me forever but didnt come down the alley. so i lost them and as i was backing up out of the garage a cop car came speeding down the alley super fast and i backed into him. luckily it didnt trigger a chase which was very surprising cause usually bumping a cop car at all gets some heat
