Posted by Victor Zuylen // Editor, Killzone Community -

Yesterday, Killzone Shadow Fall Lead Designer Eric Boltjes held a presentation on the game’s multiplayer mode at the 2013 Eurogamer Expo in London. Afterwards he also fielded questions from the audience, going into greater detail about some of Killzone Shadow Fall’s features and design choices.

Ok for the people worry about the FPS be low sometimes, tthe game ran to 60Fps most of the time and only lower a bit on the more strain sequences

xHeavYx1937d ago

The only people "worrying" about that are people who will buy the PS4's competition console.
PS fans already know the game looks great

Couldn't have put it any better.

Am I the only one that noticed they confirmed dedicated servers? Unless I'm late to the party, I think that's news in itself. Can't wait for this game!

Dropdeadll1937d ago (Edited 1937d ago )

They sugarcoated their reply to confuse people about their servers

Still p2p

Good job linking to a post from May of 2009 that discusses Killzone 2 and not Shadow Fall. Jackass.

Dropdeadll1937d ago (Edited 1937d ago )

Sorry I didn't go into detail but its still p2p combat like the other killzone's.

It's discussed here:

Btw chill :)

Yeah, sorry about that. I went and read the article again and figured out why you had posted the comment from Twitter. I was wrong. Again, my apologies.

"However, the game may drop a few frames in extreme situations – when there are a lot of GPU-intensive things going on at once." They also said the frame drops were unnoticeable in the interview where it was it the game ran 60 FPS most of the time. "And I challenge anybody to notice, without Digital Foundry looking at it, that there are large drops." And yet people want to grasp for straws to the point to twisting facts and saying a situation is worse than it is.

The framedrops most of us will be experiencing is maybe about 5 frames at most, something unnoticeable to most people. Stop trying to blow things out of proportion. Like this comment "better than 60-56-49-39-55 FPS" he actually thinks the game runs at 40 and 30 FPS, while completely disregarding what the developers have said. This is what happens when people can't read articles. People jump to conclusions.

Pintheshadows1937d ago

The guy who posted that comment (saw it earlier) is a complete numpty if he thinks that is what KZSF is doing from a frames per second standpoint.

Hicken1937d ago

They grasp at straws because it's the only thing they've got left to hold on to. Notice how adamantly they ignore the facts when it doesn't suit them.

Instead of noting it'd have to be only during the most strenuous of situations, they instead choose to take it as a frequent occurring.

maniacmayhem1936d ago

Ignoring facts but believing rumors and unnamed sources is okay right?

You guys are unbelievable! The most entertaining comments on this site by far.

A friend who primarily games on PC and 360 had a go on this today at Eurogamer and I think it finally sold him on a PS4. Every question I asked him I got a reply that was 'very impressive'. His dad however didn't like the DS4 but he is old and irrelevant.

I don't really mean that.

FullmetalRoyale1937d ago

I really like that guy. I respect that even if it wasn't the answer people wanted to hear he gave them a direct answer.

This will actually be my first Killzone game. So don't write that off as the ramblings of a fanboy.

This really does look to be the shooter that I've always wanted. I was a big BC2 guy, and nothing really excited me(including BF3 on ps3) since.

I honestly found myself getting excited hearing a lot of the things they were discussing. This game and Black Flag are the two games that I'm getting myself on launch. I think those two games will strike a good balance.

The custom games, and them being promoted like they plan on doing, is something I've always wanted.

Plus I've never personally played a good(sic) Sci-fi shooter. Which is another thing that I've always wanted.

Aside from the first Halo I mean. I'm not slamming the other Halo games, I've just only every played the first one. But I remember hearing about the custom games and yada yada. I'm really excited to be able to experience something other than the traditional ctf, and domination type matches.

When my friend gets his console will dictate whether I play Black Flag or Shadow Fall first.

I'm glad that I don't actually have to choose for myself!

Why not just link to the article that explains the structure in full?

Edit: "Killzone Shadow Fall has dedicated servers hosted in various regions around the world. These servers do not run the logic of the game – they only act as a hub between the clients, forwarding network traffic from one player in game to all other players in game. This allows people with a slower connection or strict firewall settings to play without issues. Almost all logic relating to you (e.g. moving, shooting and taking damage) runs on your local PS4, with only a very small portion of the game logic (i.e. mission/scoring logic) running on the ‘session master’, one PS4 in the game selected for its connection quality."
