Missing the secondary issue.
By buying gta$ with real cash it devalues the time, effort and skill to attain said items.

Essentially turns the game into strictly gameplay fun.....rather than additionally reward based.

Since the gun play isn't nearly as satisfying as a fps or even Max Payne....I know for me it'll be a fun diversion on my way to next gen. Which is a month away basicly.

If gta5 had true unlocks that required more than a level prerequisite - that would garner a bigger involvement by the hardcore gta players.

For many the initial fun will overshadow any of this. And by the time we realize its lameness - it's next gen time! Those who remain playing gta online will be "those" guys....the waiters. Lol

"By buying gta$ with real cash it devalues the time, effort and skill to attain said items."

Like I said in the article, I don't support it. It's a crutch. But how exactly does someone else's purchases affect your enjoy of the game? How does it devalue the time, effort and skill YOU put in to attain those items?

The reward in GTA is money. It always has been. The game is pretty much centered around fun gameplay and money. Remember that GTAO is balanced different from GTA5, so the customization for vehicles/weapons may cost more, or might require a certain rank.

"true unlocks"
What would that even entail? Again, it's centered around money. They shouldn't limit you if you have the money. Money you worked to earn.

I wouldn't quite call 500-700 missions initial fun, especially with more content on the way. How many of those missions actually have some meat to them, I can't say, but as long as they support the game with content people want, people will play. GTA 5 put a dent in next gen, and GTA Online, if it lives up to expectations, will also put a dent in the multiplayer communities of a lot of next-gen games. I think you might be underestimating GTA's impact on the industry.
