WGTC writes: When The Big N announced the Nintendo 2DS, gamers ‘round the globe froze like so many deer in headlights. Is this thing real? Is today April 1st? Has Nintendo finally gone full-on crazy? And as is usually the case with aberrant Nintendo news, the editorials started flooding in. “Out of touch! Leaving the console race!” And of course, the ever popular “Doomed!”

Black Ops still holding off Red Dead, interesting. Crazy to think that Mario Party almost sold as much as Red Dead did.
Nintendo hardware up.. Playstation hardware down..
Software numbers definitely seem low this week overall.
Red Dead didn't do that great in Japan and the Switch went up in sales. Probably from people getting excited over Pokemon Let's Go. Dragon Ball Fighterz is still hanging in there. Good for it.

13/20 are Switch titles, 16/20 are on Nintendo hardware. Japan really loves the Switch right now.
I have no use for the 2DS. However, it is smart. The reason why is the economy. People don't have a lot of money (keep your eye on PS4 and X1, which are going to struggle 6 months after launch, especially the X1). Handheld gaming is the last bastion of hope for a lot of people. It sounds silly, but the rise of portable gaming on smartphones/tablets was no accident. People love games, but they can't afford to spend much anyone.
I anticipate the 2DS/3DS line as well as the Vita (which also just announced a much cheaper Vita 2000 model) to start gaining a ton of developer support and sales in the next 2 years.
