Nintendo Insider writes:
Super Mario Bros. 2 is a very easy game, you can blow through it in less than hour, but the game is still fun to play and at times pure genius. It may not be as well remembered as either the original or Super Mario Bros. 3, but it deserves to be remembered as classic alongside those two.
Ruth's dad showed her the ropes once she could hold a GameBoy and it only got better from there. This is how handheld gaming shaped her.
Ther 35th anniversary of the NES is finally upon us and it's time to take a look back at the best classics you can play on Switch.
Every discussion about the American version of Super Mario Bros. 2 invariably turns to its origins as a completely different game. “It’s not the ‘real’ Super Mario Bros. 2,” is a fact some folks are more than happy to point out, and in some ways, they’re absolutely right. Many don’t think it matters all that much when the replacement is so much better than the original.
This got to be one of my NES-faves of all time. I`ve felt that Super Mario Bros.2 always got overshadowed by the other Mario-titles like, SMB1 & SMB3.and also the later, SM World (SNES, Yep, my next fave among the classic 2D SM-games).
SMB2 had a more diverse and a more different level design from the SMB1, ,and a bit more added RPG-feel over it than the later (and great) SMB3.
The introduction of the jack-slot machine to win level up`s etc was fun at this point. There were also some new and interesting characters/boss-fights (and some of them characters we haven`t seen since, like "Mouser" and ,"Wart", "Birdo" etc (well, Birdo was actually seen once, later in Mario Party 9 for Wii)
-Anyway an underated gem that should had deserved a lot more attention when it come to plans about modern remasters/remakes. :)
Btw: I`ve only played the EU- version (which I believe the same as the US-version, so I cant unfortunately compare these versions to the Japan version.
I got into this game later on my first Nintendo console was a SNES but I enjoyed this game with SMB Allstars for the SNES. When I was able to I bought a NES and the SMB 2 cart and it is still a great game I think the game sounds better on the NES and not the SNES too many farting noises on the SNES port. Like when you throw the POW or throw an egg at Birdo that is when the SNES farting noises kick in.
