Michael Pachter gives us the life expectancy for the Xbox 360 and PS3
I'll say around 2015, due to the performance upgrades capabilities that the current hardware will struggle with.
http://www.ign.com/articles... i say ps3 will end in late 2016
I think the PS3 can last a full 10 years, so 2016 seems fitting. Perhaps a bit earlier for the 360.
Microsoft has already made a statement that they will support Xbox until 2015, so its at least another year from them.
I'm thinking 2015 also or at least waning support with all big developers switching 100% over to PC, PS4 and Xbox One development.
Michael Pachter is a dumbass!
i say 360 from either 2013-2015,ps3 from either 2013-2018,lol sony supports their old systems for a long time
lol who would be alive till 20113 ?!
yeah, i know just messing around :P
Well the wii is dead the 360 is on life support and the PS3 is still chugging like a champ.
Didnt Sony and Microsoft say PS3/360 are getting support till 2016? I know I at least will still be buying games for them both in 2014. Im glad they arent just dropping them once Next gen hits like Nintendo did.
Wii died ever since the last Zelda game released. The 360 died in 2011. PS3 still going strong.
they have both been virtually dead to me since uncharted 2, after that, I just couldn't stomach the low res textures, the screen tearing, the jaggies, the bad framerates and all the crappy pop-in I have still gone back to play a few exclusives like halo 4, last of us and god of war ascension but they looked AWFUL, like going back in time
I'm still playing my Dreamcast.
I'll be supporting my systems until about 2015. Then I'll really jump all into next gen with mirrors edge 2.
Ps3 still has about 4 more productive years
I don't know about the 360 but I can see the PS3 lasting a lot longer. There's a lot of great looking PS3 games still coming out. It will probably last as long as the PS2 lasted after the PS3 came out.
It ends when sony so damn pleases.
in about 2 or 4 years when JRPG's start getting localized. If they don't, in about a year or 2.
Indeed "End of Life" on current gen will be years from now due to Gamestop having so many used games for resale. You can see it coming to an end when Gamestop and other stores stop accepting the consoles...until then its smooth sailing!
To put that in perspective, GS only stopped taking PS2 trade ins early this year. Sony also stopped selling the PS2 system not too long ago. PS1 stuck around a while too. If history holds true, we can expect the PS3 to stick around for quite a while.
