Gay Games, Out of the Closet

Stevivor's Steve Wright writes, "Two developers slave away in their respective home offices, working tirelessly on their indie games. The titles have a similar aesthetic (they feature hand-drawn cartoon animations) and both are defined as gay-themed. In Melbourne, Australia, Luke Miller continually updates his sci-fi adventure gay game, My Ex-Boyfriend the Space Tyrant, in an attempt to pass the title through Steam’s Greenlight program. In Eureka, USA, Obscura is using a successfully-funded Kickstarter campaign to get her erotic dating simulator Coming Out on Top into the hands of gamers."

Its crap like this thats killing gaming.

pompombrum4269d ago (Edited 4269d ago )

Care to expand on this? Gaming is thriving currently so nothing is killing it but if you want to look at the bad apples, go blame companies who lock content from their games to sell on after, or games that get yearly updates without really taking the series forward or games losing their identity to try and improve on already great sales or the idiots who go out and buy second rate crap justifying some of these bad things.. but no lets go hate on two indie guys for making a game about gay people.

I think they cause somewhat of a rift by making the theme gayness. Why not just make a regular game about gay people? By putting it at the forefront you're asking for it to be scrutinized for that point.

I'm big on equality but stuff like this really seems to hurt their cause more than help it.

So much better when it's not that typical not common stereotype, but interesting characters that are gay.

ravinash4268d ago

So I take it your not planning to go out and buy it?

Smashbro294268d ago (Edited 4268d ago )

Considering it kinda looks like one of those hentai visual novels but with burly men and has art that makes it look like it's a miniclip game, no.
