I have to agree with the guys below. This is not impressive at all. Looks like a PS3 game. You could even argue that Demon's Souls looks better than this.
This looks low res (the jaggies) and extremely blurry (look the textures)...Im sure the game will be great but wtf guys are you completely blind? amazing real time gameplay from Ryse for example get bitched for "last gen graphics" and this gets praised? Woah...
people need to keep it real with this game, as far as graphics it is not setting standards, it is just OK for the next gen first wave, but this should be a game with solid gameplay and that is what matters most
You guys can debate the low res picture quality and even the textures but the fire is undeniable. The dragon also looks good even in the pre-tgs game play.
Just one more day to see more in depth information and hopefully direct feed game play in HD.
This game is going to be amazing. I am so excited about this exclusive. You see what can happen when the dev isn't held back by the lowest common denominator? Just think of how good this game looks now and what the devs will be able to do next and next and next with exclusive software for the mighty PS4. Wow amazing.
Since its reveal I was intrigued by this game. But every bit of gameplay that I have seen now has me wanting this game more and more. Looks like destiny and deep down are going to be my main two games for a while.
Wow. This game just looks better and better. Exclusive for the PS4 doesn't have to worry about being held back by the lowest common denominator Regis. That means that the dev can take full advantage of the PS4's Superior hardware and not have to try and cope with the bones weakness.
It was never CGI, it was running on target hardware based on the PS4s power, aka a PC.
It was not some video (CGI = video) and this was proven by the imperfections that were visible back then. That video was thoroughly inspected right after it came out. CGI doesn't have jaggies, clipping of textures etc. The imperfections proved it wasn't a video.
It definitely wasn't CGI.
Most likely just higher polygon models, probably a couple million used for the dragon and each character.
Here's the chunky guy they used for motion capture commenting about the game and the experience. He was the one that was complaining at the campfire scene. https://www.youtube.com/wat...
LOL, here he is talking again in the comments section but this time he specifically states "The game’s realism is because it is not CGI, but rather a very accurate computerization of we actors being filmed actually going through our interactive dialog scenes in a motion catpture studio. Sword play, explosions, magic, insults, back-stabbing, envy, hate, … all that."
I agree with you ballsEye. These screenshots look quite nice, but they don't come close to the reveal trailer that was being shown. Which make me believe that that wasn't running in real-time.
The difference in quality is just too big.
@Evilsnuggle, in-engine and real-time is a very big difference.
u need to learn the def between in real time engine CS and a CGI, ND uses RTE in UC, TLOU and doesn't includes any type of CGI that's why they were able to get smooth transition between gameply and CS which delivered the best cinematic experience in games ever made
so I great to know what kinda of engines can the ps4 run
let them dance .. few hours from now and the gameplay steam will shu them just like with Driveclub back at e3 ""looks so bad bla bla bla.."" and now not a word of those has been heard
The leap in Graphics is not going to be huge don't forget but they'll have more polygons to shift around yes & more on screen but it's not a huge leap forward like a Nvidia Titan card you can forget that .
It looks good but not the graphical leap that the reveal trailer implied. They obviously faked that first trailer by putting a little HUD icon in the corner of a pre-rendered cinematic.
It's weird, but so far for next-gen; Ryse still has the best looking actual gameplay footage, graphically at least.
It's still early days though. There's some other beautiful looking games on the Ps4 that we need to see gameplay footage of.
I'm just annoyed at the double standard shown by the community here. No Ps4 exclusive has been criticised for faking gameplay visuals, yet there's been a huge song & dance made about Ryse screenshots looking different, despite actual gameplay footage being available.
FF15 yes but this no even if you compare it to the reveal trailer that looked awesome. These are first year games. So i don't expect a huge step like that until 2 or 3 years. Last years are always the best but by the time we reach them i for one will be already bored of the ps4.
Sorry Buddy. I'm extremely excited for this game, and I'm sure the game itself looks great. But those screens a fugly.
What is so impressive about them? It's 720p and the angles are off. They're blurry. In the one with the monster in it you can't even make out any detail in the guys armor because he's in a shadow. And what the heck is going on in the third one? I don't even know what that is.
you are either very liberal in the use of hyperbole or your idea of "fugly" is more than a little weird.
The polycount is visibly extremely high, and the textures are stunning.
Oh, and the fact that the screenshots are 1280 x 720 doesn't necessarily determine the final resolution of the game.
Edit: actually the screenshots are 960x540, so yeah, they say absolutely nothing of the final resolution of the game. As a matter of fact, they just seem to be 1080p halved in size.
Sorry I'm not having it. I'm a playstation only gamer so I'm not being a fanboy. And when I first saw the Deep Down trailer at the 2/20 event it look like the most beautiful game next gen had to offer. But these screens make it look like Dark Souls. Those screens do not do the game justice, they're blurry and while it might have a high poly count the low resolution makes the textures look bad. And aliased. Those screens... are not impressive.
The first shot looks great. The armored knight looks amazing. But the second shot isn't so impressive. The ground textures at the bottom of the shot look kind of low-res and flat.
why are you defending the screens like they are your children?? The game is awesome I cannot wait to own it, and the PS4! but the screens them selves are horrid! @Abriael
I have to agree, the first image is clearly rendered & the other 2 as he quite rightly says are not impressive at all.
There is no detail to see in the 2nd picture infact the only good texturing is on the far wall. The floor & monster textures are very poor & blurry - Clearly not a visibly 'extremely' high polygon count! (I think your getting mixed up with your renders) aswell the poor solid volumetric block lighting effect coming from the left of the screen.
The 3rd image although you can tell in motion it would probably look great, in picture form its nothing new & showing no new particle effects or anything really & again showing very poor texturing not even any bump mapping what so ever.
..My guess is that these are from very, very early code & that there really is such a thing as blind fanboyism because a lot of people are seeing things that just arnt there!
I agree these shots arn't overly impressive. But this game is and as a gamer who doesn't reall y care that much about graphics but more the experience. I am just as hyped as i ever was. Love these type of Dark souls games. Need a lot more MORE MORE MORE.
need tough every movement and attack counts and could get you killed games. Love it.
Why have I gotten so many dislikes for stating a fact I would like someone to explain why...???
I never said the game is running at 670x376 (it obviously isnt) but all i said was that was the freaking image resolution. THE IMMMMMMAAAAAGE RESOLUTION.
The images are 960 x 540. The images on the article are 670x376 but you need to left click on each image to view the actual screenshot in it's true size.
looking better and better..
Looks very good -- if not beautiful! The first one is my favorite.
Looks great!
Looks almost like an Avatar CGI.
What??
Those screens aren't impressive.
