When entering the game expect a completely different style of gameplay than your average shooters, as Arma III features by default high weapon damages, a slow pace, typically long-range weapon engagements, a high level of technical detail, vast modding options as well as a full day to night cycle and large range of vehicles for you to choose from.
I was a new player to the Arma franchise this year and so I hope to give you a new player’s unbiased perspective on the game than you might get from someone who has been playing Arma II and perhaps caught up in the DAYZ phenomena.
GF365: "Simulation games have their own unique charm that draws players in. Here are our picks for the best simulation games available today."
From GI.biz: "Back in October, a video clip started doing the rounds on social media, showing what appeared to be the Ukrainian artillery attacking Russian tanks. The footage was shared thousands of times across social media platforms.
There was just one small problem; the footage in question was not real.
It was, in fact, a video of gameplay from Arma 3, a military simulation title made by Czech studio Bohemia Interactive.
This is far from the first time the game has been used to fake footage of warzones. In the past, Arma 3 has been used to spoof videos of conflicts in Afghanistan and Syria, as well as military action between Israel and Palestine. It’s even been used to fake videos of a fictional war between India and Pakistan. This isn’t even the first time that footage of the Ukrainian war has actually turned out to be Arma 3 footage."
When these videos make their way into mainstream news it just shows me how incompetent these networks are. You could blame YouTubers, click bait titles, you could try to do something about it as the dev, but these are huge news networks with a lot of money poured into em and hundreds of employees. Perhaps if they weren't so set on being first they'd ensure that they aren't putting out fake footage as often as they do.
Precisely picking off your targets from a great distance while they never suspect a thing feels extremely satisfying and fun in games that execute the sniper concept well. Here are five such sniping games that are insanely satisfying.
Wow, I am jealous of you pc gamers :). Amazing game with amazing scope and graphics.
Arma III = 10/10
it's not a FPS it's a Military Simulator!
Arma III is as real as it gets without a 4 year commitment to Uncle Sam.
A 7? Wow, this should be a 10... no other military sim like it. Oh well, one of the best games to play right now and you can easily lose yourself if you're addicted to military concepts. Most clans have members who actually served... pretty cool.
They need to fix aircraft lock-ons though and some helicopter's auto-hover mode as a gunner pilot.
AI is "smart" but you as a squad leader should be directing them properly. Scanning horizon, watching directions, telling them to use cover/smoke/nades, etc. Actually, f-that AI needs training wheels but still fun to use properly with voice commands.
Comanche helicopter should feel more advance that it is. It feels like an old school helicopter not to mention they need to add "green eye" on the pilot/co-pilot/gunner. Doubt they will but i could only hope.
Lack of campaign was stated by Bohemia before release and was not advertised on their store page.
Insurgency - Altis by ItsThomas, is damn good. Best to have host it on another computer though. Each player can have up to three AI teammates.
