Xbox One has a release date..but will it help gain momentum at launch?

My thoughts as to why Microsoft set the launch a week after it's competitor.

that 500 dollar price will be a thorn in the foot.

Well, technically, when you go downhill you gain momentum, so, yes, they will have a lot of momentum.

The week late release is going to hurt them. Because it gives Sony 2 weeks to restock for Black Friday.

From the looks of it, Sony is well prepared and if they can keep their console in stock than Microsoft is in for a world of trouble competing against a console that is $100 cheaper. It was a similar situation for the PS3 and 360, only the roles where reversed. The week later release date could very well be the worst move Microsoft has made to date and that's saying something because they have made a lot of bad moves.

All my frinds and I have it preordered for Day One. Dedicated servers for all games and for call of duty. 3 months later. Titanfall

especially, since now you can play Ps4 in 2 rooms, for the same price.. Vita TV is a game changer.

Main reason im getting it!!!!!!

DeadManIV3882d ago

im pretty sure you can't do that, you can either play PS4 games or stream them to your VITA/TV - one or the other, not both, sorry

I agree but not in the way you think.

I think Sony is going to sell a ton of the Vita TV (Wii like numbers) and it ends up hurting the end life of the PS3, X360, and the PS4.

@DeadManIV

You are probably correct, for now.

But as I posted elsewhere I can see the possibility of having games that support split screen stream one screen to the local TV and the other to a Vita TV, though most likely not at full resolution for either, except perhaps for some less demanding games.

It shouldn't be too difficult to implement, all the pieces are there.

They will probably both have their Black Friday stock already allocated. That extra week of production would probably go towards restocking after Black Friday.

"Xbox One has a release date..but will it help gain momentum at launch?"

hmmmm... will having a release date help the console gain momentum at launch...

hmmmmmmm....

Certainly not having a release date at launch would hurt their sales. Or, alternatively, prevent them entirely.

The real determination here is the after the core gamers pick up PS4 (Lead pre-order sales for holidays over X1) Vs after the holidays, regular time. And newer adopters who don't know about the DRM fiasco.

At that point it'll come down to price and software. Rather than mishaps that happened earlier in X1 reveal. And personal feelings.

It doesn't matter when the bone releases. This battle was over the minute Don Mattrick stepped on stage and told the world that if they didn't like what micro$oft was doing with the bone then they had another great platform called the xbox 360. The world responded with a big screw you micro$oft and preordered the ps4 at a rate of 4-1. Now it's all 180s, clarifications, and executives leaving at micro$oft.

@sofresh412

lol! N4G... This website has more PS fanboys than MS. But same thing can be said for both teams. Both teams are pretty bad in my opinion.

I agree, I try to be as unbiased as possible. This site needs that.

Godmars2903882d ago

Does it have an past its actual fans, some of whom call it Xbone?

urwifeminder3882d ago

Don't care how it goes on the music charts as long as I am happy playing forza.
