I’m a firm believer that the MMO experience on PC is usually far superior to that of its console counterparts. There are certain aspects that mean consoles are always lacking, such as the ability to communicate quickly, and the appearance of the game due to graphical restrictions. I don’t consider graphics to be the most vital aspect of enjoying a game so my decision to purchase a PlayStation 3 copy was as much curiosity as it is anything else.
Today, during a pane at PAX East, Square Enix announced the release date of the next expansion Dawntrail, on top of the editions and more.
The MMORPG will arrive on Xbox consoles on 21st March following its open beta, with Square Enix releasing further details on the launch in a new Lodestone blog post.
Not only is Game Pass required to play the game in full, but FFXIV Coins will be required to make purchases - a new currency not used on PC or PlayStation.
What's even the point if they're doing everything possible to convince people NOT to play?
Bad idea. Kind of at the point its almost like a repeat of FFXI on the 360 with it requiring Gold to play.
Greed greed nothing but greed. Anyone who willingly plays 14 on Xbox is a bona fide sucker.
Kotaku writes: "That’s thanks to a series of announcements from Square Enix about exclusive features and play requirements, the latest being a new currency called FFXIV Coins."
IMO i think the most perfect mmo to bring to console would be tera rising, i have been playing wow for years and have 5 lvl 90s now all in BiS heroic raid gear till the next patch of course, I have tried all the other newer mmos such as rift, GW2 the secret world, but Tera really is the only game to give me that feeling like wow did years ago and the combat from tera would fit perfectly to a controller.
I have my PC hooked up to the 42in tv in my room. I hooked up a wireless keyboard and gamepad and I played FFXIV from the comfort of my bed today.
The cool thing about PC gaming is that you're rarely restricted to one control method :).
Very true and that's why it's good to have the best of both worlds. We got the PS3/X360 all nice and cozy in the entertainment room :).
