Now that the Xbox One has received a November 22 date, does the PS4's one-week head start give Sony the edge? Or are the dates too close to matter?

TL:DR version. 1 week wont matter.

Tony-A2266d ago

Agreed. And besides, how would we really be able to tell come launch time? The PS4 is launching before AND after the XBO so it's really not even going to be noticeable whether or not launching a week before or a week after is significant.

Moot point.

Yup, 1 week means nothing but this matters:

The one week early, one week late positioning is probably the most insignificant thing about the PS4.

I'm a Sony fan, someone (an Xbox fan) should make a list of X1s features that set it apart/show how it's upgraded from the 360, along with its exclusive/timed exclusive games.

I'm already getting a PS4 but I didn't know about some of those smaller features and I must admit, some of those features sounds like such a clever and brilliant addition!

Cheers for this list! More excited than ever!

"*Video chatting while you play games"

Is this a confirmed feature? If so that would be brilliant!

It means just as much as the week head start in Europe for the xbox one so nope.

Neoninja2266d ago

Couldn't have said it better. If it were a month head start then it might be something.

Xwow20082266d ago

It means the next generation start when sony says so :)

I doubt it would have a huge significance, but one thing is in that week casual gamers who dont keep up with the news like coming on this site for example, might pick up the PS4 because its the first available console in stores of the 2 and also if Call of Duty comes out during its usual release date between November 1 - 15 then those who go to pick up Call of Duty launch week looking for one of the next gen consoles to play it on might just pick up a PS4 if they have no console preference.

Well being that casual buy's aren't usually early adopters I don't know if that would help them to much. However I do believe cod ghost is out on the 5th, and with the option to pick it up on this gen and change it for 10 later on I don't know if that would have much bearing.

yami9302266d ago

Oh yeah thats very true I actually forgot about the games upgrade to next gen for discount deal and I know casual gamers are usually not early adopters, but there are those people and casual gamers who are always wanting whatever the next big new thing is, like with cellphones, those are the people I was talking about. But yeah, theres pretty much no significant benefits from being out a week early, all I can see now after what you just brought up is Sony has bragging rights of being first, thats about it.

Not really! I want MS to be on pair with sony on every aspect. I think there is enough market for both of them. If sony fails MS will [email protected] everyone!... (they already tried, even before the next gen stared), and Sony is not a saint either, or at list they wont be this nice if MS is not lurking around
