The Current State of PlayStation 4 Launch Exclusives

Has Sony's PS4 got the exclusive games to pull in the punters at launch? We take a look...

The next gen console war is well and truly raging, and has been for a while now. Initially all about the consoles themselves and the various policies enforced by each company, the differences between Microsoft and Sony's decisions leading up to launch have now evened out, leaving the important element, the games, at centre stage.

As much as I think that both consoles don't have overly exciting exclusive launch line-ups, this generation is still probably the best in terms of quality and number of games available straight away.

I would be inclined to disagree with the author's conclusion in that the launch is anywhere near underwhelming though on either console, as I for one am very excited for this coming November!

Hell both consoles have a crazy launch line up, some of the games that im excited to play that will be included at launch are

Killzone shadow fall
Watch Dogs
Assasin creed : black flag
battlefield 4
blacklight retribution

and that is just off the top of my head. Im not going to buy all of them obviously im not rich. ( 3 of those are free though )

abzdine3967d ago

Knack and Killzone will be mine! Those F2P games are also well worth the try.
DriveClub as well of course but that one is Free from day one..
Greatness awaits

Defo getting kzsf ! Getting knack too since I love 3d platformers

Bigpappy3967d ago

Multi-plats to the rescue. Funny that you guy always tout EXCLUSIVES, but now have to bow in front of the mighty MULTIPLATS. Not that there is anything wrong with that.

The big feather in M$ hat, is that Titan Falls is the most anticipated launch title (Exclusive or Multi-plat).

cell9893967d ago

Titanfall not for me, maybe the general consensus, but personally BF4 or Killzone are more desirable, also Titan Fall is not a launch title, it comes out in 2014

Seafort3967d ago

Watch what happens when Sony Worldwide Studios start pumping out their exclusives and MS cowers in a corner with 2-3 exclusives per year.

MS aren't in the same league as Sony when it comes to a gaming console and platform exclusives. They sold off most of their studios and now just rely on Forza and Halo to tide their fanboys over.

MS motto must be "If in doubt pay for timed exclusivity!"

Titanfall seems to be a cool game but it'll just turn out like CoD with year on year the same damn game.

GarrusVakarian3967d ago

Titanfall isn't a launch title.

Don't know about you, but i bow to GAMES, exclusive OR multiplat.

CGI-Quality3967d ago

Yeah, never mind that TitanFall is't a launch game, nor is it exclusive.

AceBlazer133967d ago

Titanfall most anticipated?
Battlefield, cod and killzone have the highest pre orders. So where in that fact did you dig up titanfall is most anticipated?

FlunkinMonkey3967d ago (Edited 3967d ago )

Not very clever are you buddy?

The only game you happened to mention isn't even a launch title OR an exclsuive. Good job son.

Most anticipated? I think you will find that's KZ as it has more pre-orders than Ryse, Forza and DR3 combined.

Good comment, well thought out mate, pffft.

Hellsvacancy3967d ago

For me Titan Fall is on par with the new Wolfenstein game, which I have zero interest in at all

Bigpappy3967d ago (Edited 3967d ago )

Ahh! They got me again with that Titan Falls no launch. But if I keep making that error, I am sure there are many more making it. I actually knew that and still made the error because it is being hyped so much.

Agreed "Lukas_Japonicus" exclusivity has nothing what to do with my game purchase. I by only the game I like most. Never bought a game because it was exclusive. But a great exclusive game that is considered t5he best in its genre can sell a whole lot of consoles.

T23967d ago (Edited 3967d ago )

Its not a launch title unless I can buy it at launch

Edit - ah yes I see you forgot

I agree, I think both console have solid line up's, but I'm not as impressed as I want to be with either of them. So far Killzone, DriveClub, and Forza are the only "Exclusives" that impressed me.

I though I was going to like Dead Rising it seems like it's going to be one of those games you pick up and have fun with the first couple of days, then play some co-op, then never go back to it. The world seems "Dead".

Ryse has been somewhat of a disappointment. I could care less about LocoCycle. Killer Instinct seems funs, but I don't like the "season packs" and pay to play for a fighting game (fighting games should all be $40 and no more). Crimson Dragon I need to see more of. And I don't care about Kinect anything.

Knack just isn't my kind of game. And most of the F2P and Indie games are already on PC (but there's nothing wrong with that).

The games I'm looking forward to the most are 2014 titles for all 3 consoles. InFamous Second Son, The Witcher 3, Destiny, TitanFall (just to see if the hype is justified), Halo 5, The Order, Super Smash Bros., Mario Kart, X, Bayonetta 2, Naughty Dog, Sony Santa Monica, Media Molecule, etc...

But one thing that can't be argued is that the PS4 has the better offerings for launch as far as value is concerned. Buy a PS4 get 10 games free (Drive Club PS+, Outlast, Warframe, War Thunder, etc...)

FamilyGuy3967d ago

I think the launch games will be great, lots of diversity.

For me the PS4s launch would be improved if it had a fighting game (a good one) and JRPG at launch or in the launch window. I'm excited about all the new features as well, November can't come soon enough!

I like both consoles launch lineups, but i don't think either is ground breaking. Im more interested in a year or 2 when the first parties are done creating their magic and reveal their projects to the public.

By then ill have both consoles and wont miss out on a thing :)

CocoWolfie3967d ago (Edited 3967d ago )

for those that want the full list http://uk.ign.com/wikis/pla... so far 27 according to ign (not inc launch window of course :p)

BlueBlood173967d ago

The IGN list is quite unreliable. I used to use it but now I use (mainly) the wikipedia list. The guys on there keep it up to date really well and I myself have contributed to both next-gen console's game lists!

stage883967d ago

Killzone is enough for me. It looks absolutely amazing. Hours of fun.

vividi3967d ago

I already decided to go with the Ps4, but Ryse and KI are really tempting

Gamer6663967d ago

I doubt either PS4 or X1 buyers will be unimpressed with their consoles.

People do need to decide (on their own) what kind of games they are most interested in and base their decisions on that rather than 180's, marketing, and web sites like N4G.

abzdine3967d ago

Ryse is boring man, check out IGN preview

vividi3967d ago

I like the setting and time

abzdine3967d ago

@vividi: then watch a movie instead

vividi3965d ago

I love Gladiator, I already decided for the ps4, so that is the only thing I can't do, I don't have the money to buy the 2 consoles, sad but I can't get Ryse, maybe someday

BlueBlood173967d ago

I have to be honest, neither of those appeal to me - especially with KI being essentially freemium and a tad watered down.

Forza 5 looks awesome though! But I'm sure DriveClub will also be great fun even if it isn't a true simulation.

I was genuinely upset about Dead Rising 3, but then I came across Dying Light which looks like it's on another level from DR3.

TitanFall too, I'm very interested in that and I was deeply disappointed when they went Xbox exclusive as I had been following those guys ever since the day the studio was announced. This game is tempting me to maybe pick up an Xbox One but then from what I've heard the game might come to PS4 after 6-12 months which would be awesome. Not to mention the fact that the only reason they went exclusive is because they really didn't have the manpower to develop for two and that they felt the former always online nature of the XBOne was more suited to their online only game.

They have stated though that they want to bring their games to ALL of their fans and would love to widen their audience so we're pretty much guaranteed that - if PlayStation Nation don't get TitanFall at some point down the line - we'll be playing their next game on PS4.
