Microsoft: Xbox One versus PS4 launch will bring energy to gaming market

XMNR: Microsoft just announced the Nov. 22 launch date for the Xbox One which comes only a week after the PS4's launch on Nov. 15. Corporate Vice President shared his thoughts Tuesday at a Citi Global Technology Conference on what the two consoles launching head to head against one another for the first time means for the gaming industry.

I've never been so excited for the month of November! Two console launches, a major feasting day and major shopping day all in one month???

I agree im doing the same. It is strange though I cant wait to get my hands on my One and Forza 5 and then some time next year pickup a PS4 but I am more excited for the games on the WiiU over the One and PS4 lineup as ive decided to have a year of platforming with a few racers.

For me its all about Pikmin 3, Zelda HD, New DK, Mario 3d, Pokémon 3D, Forza 5, KI and GT6. Yes im excited over the new consoles but out of all of the games theses are the ones im most excited about this year. That Said with games like BF4, COD Ghosts, DR3, KZ (PSV and PS4) Ryse, GTA 5, Watch Dog and many more its another great year to be a gamer as well as an expensive one.

Buying one system per generation doesn't make a person a fanboy, and it doesn't mean they'll be missing out on anything.

If they can't afford it, they're not a fanboy, and if they don't want it, they're not missing out at all from their point of view.

On what? If the Xbox360s lifecycle is anything to go buy it won't be much. I don't buy multiple consoles so morons like yourself can determine if I'm a "gamer" or a "fanboy" especially from undercover fanboys like yourself. I buy multiple consoles if there is more than one console that peaks my interest and so far there is only one and maybe a half (WiiU).

It will be good in the sense that we haven't seen an actual console release rivalry before, not this close anyway.

It's going to be interesting to see which console does better this year. PS4 is releasing 1 week earlier in US and Canada, but Xbox is releasing 1 week earlier in all other (11) territories. Then the PS4 releases 1 weak later in territories that Xbox is not releasing.

So PS4 has the head start in US and Canada, then Xbox has the advantage in territories such as Mexico, UK, etc and then PS4 again in the rest of territories Xbox is not going to be out.

There is no significant time advantage this time like last generation, so whichever console is more successful will completely depend on what they do to prove they are the best.

Yep it will energize the industry and the market, Andrew House has echoed the same thing... If people say console gaming is dead, they simply don't have the foresight to know, that this is a 10 year plan for success.

As a current xbox 360 owner, I'm looking to transition to the xbox one this november, but the last guardian (the title I said that would force me to buy a ps3 for) will probably make me purchase a ps4 later down the road as well when the game comes out.
