Ian DeMartino of GameWoof writes "To be honest, I never really liked AstroBoy. I’m not exactly sure why; maybe its that stupid haircut or that the kid is never wearing a T-shirt and looks as about intimidating as a Topher Grace trying to pull off a bad guy in a Spider-Man Movie. Whatever the reason, he wasn’t my kind of superhero. Chalk it up to cultural differences or me growing up in the two decades where he wasn’t as popular, but I do not understand why so many Japanese kids have been admiring him since the sixties."
Japan adores and reveres Osamu Tezuka's Tetsuwan Atomu. Unfortunately, most English-speaking countries never seriously latched onto his localised counterpart, Astro Boy.
Robert Workman (Modojo): Anime fans will have no problem recalling Astro Boy, the popular hero who first debuted in a Manga comic all the way back in the 1950s, before enjoying a new lease of TV life towards the end of the last century. He's starred in his fair share of games too, including a memorable stop on the Nintendo DS.
With Astro Boy Dash, Animoca brings the rocket-powered boy robot back into action, this time in endless runner form. As you'd expect, there are plenty of obstacles to avoid, coins to collect and mighty special powers to unleash.
John Bedford (Modojo): Each Thursday, we bring you a round-up of the biggest new games that hit the App Store at midnight, and this week's seen a huge number of new releases. We'll be working our way through all of these games and bringing you our reviews - we'd love to hear how you're getting on with them in the comments section.
