The Art of Switch Galaxy Ultra on PS4, PS Vita

Gary Nichols: Greetings, PlayStation.Blog — Gary from Atomicom here with an update on Switch Galaxy Ultra, our insanely-fast, reaction-based arcade game that’s been developed as an update to our critically acclaimed PlayStation Mobile title Switch Galaxy. We’ve been off the radar a bit as we had our heads down squeezing every last drop of art, code, and blood into the game and it’s shaped up to be something we’re very proud of. Both the PS4 and PS Vita versions are running in super smooth 60 FPS with the PS4 version at 1080p.

Both feature online multiplayer with two modes of play for up to four players, and we’ve incorporated cross play so you can compete against your buddies across PS4 and PS Vita. We also have cross buy and cloud save so everyone with a PS4 and Vita combo is getting a real treat.

Seeing games like this just make me wish more and more that PS4 had it's own rendition of Wipeout. Game would be so sexy on PS4, would definetely replace Outlast as most played downloaded game on system for me.

Atomicom CEO Gary Nichols Speaks on Switch Galaxy Ultra and Indie Development

Much as the Futurlab team did with the Velocity series before them, Atomicom have set out to evolve the quaint PlayStation Mini experience into fully featured console title. Utilizing the power of the PlayStation Vita and PlayStation 4 the unit are working tirelessly to create the follow up to Switch Galaxy, titled Switch Galaxy Ultra. However the question has been asked, “what’s in a name?”, and perhaps in regards to this instance what does the addition of the “Ultra” moniker really mean for young the franchise?

Thankfully Gary Nichols, the CEO of Atomicom, was kind enough to take the time to answer a few questions I had about not only his game; but also the industry at large.
