Microsoft’s Changing Policies Show Lack of Xbox One Conviction

It’s been a season of reversals for Microsoft and the Xbox One. As the company struggles with negative fan reaction to policies and features on its next-gen machine, a number of the more problematic issues with the Xbox One have been rolled back — much to many potential players’ delight.

And yet, this past week at Gamescom in Cologne, Germany, Sony took the opportunity to jab at Microsoft yet again. “While others have shifted their message, and changed their story, we were consistent in maintaining policies, and a model that is fair, and in tune with consumer desires,” Sony Computer Entertainment President and CEO Andrew House said during Sony’s huge press conference.

Yes it does but you have to look at it from their point of view. They were hammered by the community and, I only assume, pre-orders reflected that. They had to change.

edit: being different is one thing but you can't be different if your spending millions on a device that the market doesn't like (because of the policies not the hardware)

"Microsoft has done more than abandon its guns, it’s running for the hills. Reversal after reversal demonstrate that all those claims Microsoft made in the early going, about the necessities of online connections and DRM and Kinect censors and their vision for their console, were a combination of smoke and mirrors."

So damn true.

Yeap the xbone is holed up in a trench shaking with a rifle in its hands while Rambo(PS4) is looking for first blood part 2!

Another article talking about old reversals that show a lack of "conviction"? And from Darkride no doubt, too funny.

MS tried something, no one went for it. They changed it to what the masses wanted and all this before it was released. It shows there is "conviction" in trying to please their fans that were outraged in the first place.

Now that that bit of nonsense has been taken care of, they're moving on, providing games and making sure these next steps are steps in the right direction. Every company has faltered, Coke made new Coke and never looked back and fans chuckled but also kept it steppin.

I suggest people here do the same instead of stirring up needless articles that bring nothing to the table but rehash old conversations.

Who gives a crap, I'm still getting it and so are a hell of a lot of other people. I like their vision for the console, they've already convinced me with their launch lineup and I'm excited for what this console will REALLY be able to do in the future once devs get familiar with it. So sick of this nonsense already.

"So sick of this nonsense already."

Trust me! We all are!

Even though I'm more of an Xboxer, I'm still going to get the PS4 eventually, just to have my bases covered. There's no denying both systems will have killer games that will be exclusive to their own. It really is the way to go and negates the need to "pick a side".

I intend on an xbone also but only once there are enough exclusives worth playing in about 2 years time!
