What's The Point of Minecraft?

You're totally spot on. Not every game appeal to everyone and seeing the success of Minecraft...it clearly is doing something right and many are liking it. I'm not a fan myself but I acknowledge the success and popularity of Minecraft. But it's kinda funny when all of the sudden that the point of playing Minecraft is questioned now that it's coming to PS4. Why noy before?

To survive. There's no experience quite like burying yourself in a hole in fear because you hear the zombies everywhere around you and you got stranded to survive the night while you were hunting for food because you were starving!

Minecraft has no explicit objective or goal. You literally have to make your own fun. That's what makes it unique and that's what makes it fun.

For me it is fun for about 30 mins or so until I make a house or castle then I get bored once I have some sort of bed and hide away...

same for me... once i find some diamonds, it just gets really boring. I can play for a little longer with friends, but i always end up running around doing nothing. It would be fun if i was creative or good at art stuff lol

Minecraft Only -> Gets boring very quickly.
Minecraft + Mods -> Makes the game much more cerebral.

It's anything what you make with it. I'm more of a Engineering man myself, so I built an automatic pig breeder and cooker. Also, used Villagers to spawn in iron golems to make an Iron farm. The possibilities are endless, but you have to have an imagination, and opened mind.

I like that there's some decent discussion on this. I do love playing Minecraft and it is an odd one for me. The game is decent and it is without a doubt a success. I just bugs me sometimes and I'm glad there's some discussion. Thanks for getting involved everyone

I find the hardcore deathban servers pretty fun to play on. It gets pretty intense when you know that if you die you have to wait a week to play on it again.
