It's sad to offer the biggest and most popular sport in the world as a free game? You're trying..but there's nothing sane you can type that can diminish how great that is.
The whiners crying it's still cheaper to buy a PS4 and Fifa...
X1- 500 bucks PS4-400 bucks
With one game X1-500 bucks PS4-465 bucks
35 dollars difference...hhmm
Sony people like to champion the free rentals they get with PS+, but getting a free game to keep for as long as you please is no big deal. Lol you guys are adorable...
@black0o
To your second comment...I barely understood it, but I think I got the meaning of it so here goes...if a business isn't selling they do things to improve and entice buyers with sales and buy one get frees and vouchers, travel miles etc.
So Microsoft wants to improve sales and that's a bad thing? I doubt you'll be running a business anytime soon.
@theWeb did MS offered anything to NA ? ur answer is NO u know why it because x1 sold out unlike EU were PS4 perorders are 4:1 to the x1 so ms has to do something about it
u know why it's sad because 90% of FIFA buyers are not the 1st adopters they jump latter like a year or two
Unbelievable....actually unbelievable how some of you are playing down such a major announcement. The bitterness is palpable. Seriously, learn to give credit where credit is due.
***sad attempted to boost the preorders in EU***
Really? REALLY?! They are giving a free copy of one of the highest selling games in Europe.
Look at HammadTheBeast's previous comment:
***You guys are high if you think EA will just give away their highest selling franchise away with every console.***
I guess we weren't as intoxicated as you thought.
***They actually didn't take anything away from Sony, FIFA 14 is multiplatform.***
Clearly, you're missing the point about a FREE copy of a game being bundled with the X1. You're telling me a free copy of FIFA being bundled with the X1 but not with the PS4 doesn't take away anything from Sony?
It's great for Xbox buyers but it also shows that Microsoft doesn't intend to change the manipulative tactics they used this gen for next gen any time soon. So calling it "sad" is definately justified imo.
The tides are turning and MS is making huge strides to closing that value/price gap between PS4 and Xbox One. The Kinect One as an added value just became humungous!
This is huge news and wish they would do something similar for the US (or North America region).
Totally agree man. Some people just refuse to see plain (business) logic.
Even though i don't really like fifa and prefer the PS4 over X1, I can still see how this is big for MS. And if people get free games thats a good thing. This is how good competition makes things better for consumers
Dem deep pockets! Now we know where that $1 billion for games is being "invested" by MS. It is the fundamental strategy of MS whether it is in OS business, the browser wars or any other field. Outspend your competitor if you cant outplay them in a fair competition.
Very big announcement, but Sony could just bundle the game themselves tbh, and still be cheaper than MS. The only reason they can do this though is because they are really ripping EU consumers off the with the price already. PS3 was £425 when it was $599 in the US, this is £429 and only $499 in the US. Still, it will hit their bottom-line immensely.
weird, it looks like some are actually upset m$ is being more competitive. some of the comments here show why the gaming community is so often not taken seriously.
Gotta admit, this is a brilliant short term move for Microsoft.
**EDIT** @nukeitall: "The tides are turning and MS is making huge strides to closing that value/price gap between PS4 and Xbox One. The Kinect One as an added value just became humungous!"
No they aren't and no it isn't. You are overhyping this. I normally don't like to rely on this, but here's a video you should watch from Adam Sessler.
Unfortunately, EA doesn't have the UEFA license. So that only leaves PES, and among football (or soccer for our American friends here) fans, FIFA is the usual choice.
Because MS would have to buy a company (Sony) that has serious debt, hasn't been profitable in ages, seeing their marketshare erode in almost all business sectors and had to sell their investment (read expensive buildings) and turn it into an expense to turn a profit on their balance sheet.
^With an inferior console that's being abandoned after all exclusive deals ran out? Have fun playing FIFA and CoD in 2017 while others are enjoying first party exclusives.
Some people actually want the Xbox One and some people would be more than happy to pay the extra $40 (going off the US difference of the two added together) to get one. In the end, people who preordered both are the ones who won, which is awesome for them.
Meh, it's not a big deal at all really. Think about it for a second - PS4 will most likely release before XbOne anyway. So if this is the case, then technically PS4 owners will actually get their hands on next gen Fifa14 before the XbOners.
Very true, and PS4 + FIFA 14 is still cheaper than the Xbox one, so if Europeans really want to play the game that bad, they will get it with the PS4 For cheaper.
This is MS attempt at a price cut in Europe. Especially after they announce no day one pre-orders and lowered their target countries from 21 to 13... The pre-orders must have been pretty bad. Either way good news for European Xbox One owners, it's kind of like they announced a price drop before the console even came out, at least that's how I see it lol.
This will only bring out more competition, so hopefully we see some more freebies from both sides. Not much a win for MS but a win for gamers.
Microsoft's way of getting a bigger user base in Europe. I guess it works, but sad to see it be a "paid" fanbase rather than one based on their actual services and hardware.
Europeans, will you get this with the free FIFA even though it's more expensive than a PS4 + FIFA?
Sorry bro but most of us aren't fans but consumers. Whatever appeals too my wallet is what I'll buy. If we became fans of a company then there would be no incentives to offer good service.
Sorry, bro, but where in my response did I mention anyone but Microsoft's tactics here?
Sorry if I'm not a fan of companies buying their fanbase rather than winning them through quality hardware and services. That goes for everyone, not just Microsoft. But, guess who is the company being discussed here?
"Sorry if I'm not a fan of companies buying their fanbase rather than winning them through quality hardware and services"
You may be content with politicising the medium but many of us simply will buy what, as papashango rightly said, appeals to our wallets.
This notion of yours for a "paid" fanbase seems like a silly distinction to me. It's a simple case of MS investing/buying rights for a title that offers us more content.
"Europeans, will you get this with the free FIFA even though it's more expensive than a PS4 + FIFA?"
How about this? I get the X1 and a free copy of Fifa to boot? This is a game that you would normally shell out premium prices for.
***Too bad, if you actually researched your purchases more, you might actually get something you like more than you thought you would. ***
Who says purchasing what appeals to our wallets and researching our purchases are mutually exclusive? It's that assessment that made me get an android phone.
This doesn't operate in a vacuum you know? There are other factors that are influencing our decisions.
***I guess it works, but sad to see it be a "paid" fanbase rather than one based on their actual services and hardware.***
If it works, it workds for a reason. Clearly, these 'actual services and hardware' aren't sufficient enough reasons for a person who would be swayed by such a deal. If someone decides to buy the X1 because of this deal, its clearly based on their assessment of the situation.
Why automatically assume that there is some sort of ignorance on the part of the consumer in respect of their assessment of the console hardware or services?
Also, you go on to say:
"will you get this with the free FIFA even though it's more expensive than a PS4 + FIFA?"
***Who says purchasing what appeals to our wallets and researching our purchases are mutually exclusive?***
No one. That's why I specifically used the word "might".
***So then its just a question of price is it?***
Mentioning the price doesn't mean your choice will be based solely on the price. I asked an open ended question. ONe no one has truly answered and instead attempted to have a fanboy war with me for my opinion on "buying a fanbase" and asking if people's have considered this even though there's still a price difference.
" I asked an open ended question. ONe no one has truly answered and instead attempted to have a fanboy war with me for my opinion on "buying a fanbase""
Mate, I'm not trying to have a fanboy war at all. Just beware of the way the 'tone' of a post gets lost on the internet. I'm not hounding you for having an opinion.
Answering your question:
"Europeans, will you get this with the free FIFA even though it's more expensive than a PS4 + FIFA?"
I can't speak for all Europeans, but for me personally, like I have said before, the decision to purchase the X1 is based on more than Fifa being bundled in for free. Funnily enough, its based on "actual services and hardware" (I can elaborate if you want).
That's what I'm wondering. Is Free FIFA enough to get people who were going PS4 to buy Xbox One now? It's still $40 more, but you get certain things with it that you just won't get on PS4.
Yeah I live in the UK and while I don't really play Fifa, almost all of my friends play it religiously. And while its still cheaper to get PS4 with the game, there will still be enough people who will just see "Fifa 14 free with Xbox One" and at least consider getting one based on that.
Shots fired again. But to be fair, MS needed some redeeming factor after the announcement fiasco.
So you're saying that by buying a Xbox one for £429 and getting FIFA 14 for free, compared to buying a PS4 for £349 and buying FIFA 14 for £40, with a total of £389, it's a win for MS?
Might as well add the prices of the Subscriptions needed to play it online too on top of that. Also on a similar note, has been confirmed anywhere that games are going to be £40? most places are listing them at 50.
you can get it cheaper on ps4 plus there are many european countries that will get it sooner due to xbox delay so i dont think informed consumers will be rushing out to preorder xbone knowing they will have to wait til 2014 to play fifa at a more expensive price
I don't think it is a big win for M$. They didn't took anything from Sony. Still bundle PS4 + FIFA 14 is cheaper. And you buy 3 months PS+ subscription and you get 4 games for free.:)
Oh god quit being fanboys. Im sorry i dont play Fifa either but 8 out of my 9 Scottish friends are heavy Fifa enthusiests and im sure this is going to decide what console they are getting. If they have enough money that is.
i'd be willing to bet on madden since EA makes madden and activision makes CoD and they've got that massive deal with EA.... though they do have one with activision aswell i suppose
I'm sure you will. Looks like an EA thing so probably Madden or some other sport you like across the pond :)
It's actually quite nice for somewhere outside the US to get something first for a change. Great for European gamers although I'm sure there are some yanks that like their soccer too.
That's a big win for MS imo, I don't play Fifa but the market in the UK alone is massive, taking that away from Sony will be huge if they pull it off
Can the US get something too please
