Then, there are the villains who have no faces. In the case of Ultima Forever: Quest for the Avatar [Free], you’re up against The Black Weep. No, this isn’t a group of Templars; rather, it’s a vile sickness - much like Resident Evil’s T-Virus - that turns its infected into headless-undead abominations. You’ve got to become the Avatar of Renown and save the world. Let the hero’s quest begin.

Ultima Forever’s stripped-down approach to dungeon-delving might alienate more hardcore fans, but the satisfyingly simple battles and the amount of content on offer make it worth a trip to Britannia.
Last month, Electronic Arts and Mythic Entertainment released Ultima Forever: Quest for the Avatar on the App Store. It’s a follow-up to the ’80s game Ultima IV: Quest of the Avatar, but Mythic has made a few changes, including swapping out Lord British for Lady British. As much as that sounds like a gender-smart move, some players have been wondering why they can’t play as a female fighter — only a female mage.
