I've played the original KI on SNES before, though it wasn't mine. At that age I wasn't HUGE into fighting games, though I did like and own Super Street Fighter II.

I mostly remember KI from seeing it being played at a family friend's house on their birthday once. When I do think of KI, the first character I think of is Orchid, then Glacius next, then Cinder (I know, palette swap).

I guess they were the ones used most when I saw it because those are the characters that first come to mind when I think of KI, especially Orchid.

Glacius has been shown already, but for me, I can't wait to see Orchid.

Fireseed4319d ago

It's weird to me cause I was introduced to KI with KI2 so for me the main go to characters are Fulgore, Sabrewulf, Jago, and Glacius.

I know a lot of people are hoping for B. Orchid at Gamescom, but I would go ecstatic to see Fulgore, Spinal, or Kim Wu :)

Plagasx4319d ago

Yea, I can't wait to see them nice big.........boots.

no_more_heroes4318d ago

Lol I think you spelled "boots" wrong ;)

Megaton4319d ago

"Core Four" lacking Fulgore and Orchid.

Thomper4318d ago

I think Orchid will be next character and teased at Gamescom.

They have done an amazing job so far, Thunder in particular is looking awesome!

drsfinest724318d ago

I simply cannot wait for this damn game ughhhhh

colonel1794318d ago

How many character will there be in the game? I have a feeling they will launch the game with just few (5 or 6) and then sell the others separately. Which would be a bad decision.

True_Samurai4318d ago

I believe they announced all characters will return with new additional new charscters

JokesOnYou4318d ago

colonel first off Jago will be free the rest will be available for purchase individually or you can buy them ALL. Hell no it won't be just 6 for launch, if so I'll be the first to call BS, it will probably be 11 or 12 at least since KI and KI2 both had 11 each with most being the same characters, so I hope when that happens you will be the first to congratulate them for having twice as many as you predicted.

colonel1794318d ago

Hopefully you're right JOY. IMO, It would be awesome to have every KI & KI2 character, each with their stages, humiliations, ultimates, stage fatalities, etc. Then add new characters if they want. The problem is that it doesn't seem that way so far. They haven't said anything about ultimates, and they have only revealed 4 characters when the games launches in November.

I don't have any problem if they break down the game to just one character for people who want to get the experience and buy each character they like individually. That's actually a good idea, but they must release a complete product, or else, MS will have another backlash, the game will get bad reception, and double helix will still be considered a bad developer. So here I hope that they are just being secretive about the entire game.

yeah they were such good and fun games but they never really reached the mainstream audience. Killer Instinct was widely known and respected.

Cacabunga55d ago

Killer instinct is great, especially on snes but it’s not the most underrated fighter.. for me it’s Power Stone. So much potential in this series

Jawsh66655d ago

Bloody Roar was a game that had a sick concept but wasn’t made the best. I’d say Killer Instinct was the opposite of that, it was well made but the roster of characters were so similar to every other fighting game in that era that it ended up feeling like more of the same. I could be wrong that’s just how I remember it at the time and I played a ton of KI on SNES because it was one of the first games I owned.

PRIMORDUS55d ago

I loved this game in the arcade, my main was Jago, Ultra Combo!!! https://www.youtube.com/wat...

DivineHand12554d ago

That combo was way overkill 😂

PRIMORDUS54d ago

I know haha, I loved Jago.

Bathyj55d ago

You're kidding?
It enjoyed probably more success than it deserved.
Unlike Tobal 2

MeteorPanda54d ago

Tobal 2 was awesome. Sold really well cause art similarity to dragon ball

jjb198155d ago

I remember trying my hardest to learn that "Ultra... Ultra.... Ultra...." finish. Such a great fighting game.

Popsicle54d ago (Edited 54d ago )

I can tell you definitely got some SNES time in. The slight differences in the ports due to hardware constraints were interesting. For example, the arcade version was Ultraaaa Coooommboooooooo! versus Ultra….Ultra….Ultra on the SNES.

Though SNES overachieved as a port for as demanding as a game KI was.The arcade version was one of the first cabinets with a dedicated hard drive and the SNES version was 32 megabyte cartridge which was huge for that system at the time.

jjb198153d ago

Yeah, for sure. My local childhood arcade was always packed and it was hard to get a game in but once the SNES version came out, I was hooked. I can still feel the click of the power button.

Barlos563d ago

I'll have to get this! Been a big fan of KI since the very first one.

Petebloodyonion563d ago (Edited 563d ago )

I love KI (still play the old arcade version) but feel like the Xbox version is like a big intimidating chessboard with no easy way to instruct you to play chess.
The game is so deep in terms of little things to do that it makes Smash Bros melee look like a casual experience.
Honestly, doing a combo Breaker is punish/reward by itself but hey you can add a counterbreaker.
Here's what you also need to know
Breaking Shadow-linker
Instincts
Shadow counter
Auto double,
linker, manual
ender
etc,

There isn't going to be any chance of this being played at tournaments unless it appears on all platforms like all fighting games.

SPEAKxTHExTRUTH567d ago

SF5 didn’t appear on all consoles and was still played at Tournaments. I’ve seen KI tournaments recently so I don’t think your opinion is accurate.
