Watch a full 12 minutes of Techland's Dying Light, Pre-Alpha footage.
The end of the demo is where I got interested imo, looking forward to seeing more now! EDIT: The thing at the end reminded me of the vampires in Blade 2
Edit: Sorry thought this was from the Dead Island ceators
Isn't it being developed by Techland, not Deep Silver?
This one is more into the horror aspect mixed with mirrors edge style gameplay in terms of movement so while the setting is the same the core theme and gameplay is different imo it looks better than dead island
Why don't you just read a couple articles on it? lol. Plus, the Dead Island series has an unimpressive reputation, so they probably want a fresh start. EdoubleD Techland developed both Dead Island games while Deep Silver produced them.
This looks very awesome.
Next-gen cinematic gameplay is slowly approaching :D TLOU was the first I game played that felt like playing a Hollywood movie, this could be the next.
Now this is next gen! This looks more impressive than any other next gen game we have seen yet. I see all kinds of new graphical techniques being used in this game in addition to higher quality implementations of techniques we have already seen. Seriously impressive stuff.
the monster at the end reminded me more like a mixture of Dead Space/Res.Evil.... :) But dat cliche english accent....
This definitely looks a ton like Dead Island, which isn't exactly a bad thing. It wasn't a perfect game, but it was definitely a fun open world game when playing with a friend or two. It looks like a great evolution though. In Dead Island I was constantly climbing things, and the system wasn't really designed well for it. With the added survival/horror aspects, this looks like a truly great game.
While I like the FP view of the game, I think if it went 3rd person view it would be better. Too many games now a days are FP view. Looks pretty good though.
i would normally agree if it was a standard shooter. but with the free running added in there, it really makes the gameplay stand out to me.
I'll wait for ME2 for another first person free runner. Like I said it looks pretty good, but I think it would look better in 3rd person.
cool concept. that what should dead island look like.
Looks great so far and they still have a ways to go before launch. with the ease of development that next gen consoles allows devs i'm really excited at the quantity of games we will be getting at short periods of time.
Ahh man, this looks amazing. Been interested ever since I saw the debut trailer. Can't wait to see how it progresses!
Wow, graphics are amazing. Its like Dead Island and Mirrors Edge had a baby.
Good God. So many. Next gen games. That I totally need but not really. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGG GHHHHHHHHHHH
I'm really looking forward to all of these co-op games. I grow weary of having nothing but competitive multiplayer to play. I am so over zombies but this game looks to be a thrill with cooperative play. Sign me up.
This is single player, not co-op, co-op modes haven't been announced but the story mode is all single player
First of all, thank you for not being smug about it. Second, I must have gotten it confused with that medieval first-person zombie slashing game. Well dang. Thanks for setting me straight at least. That's too bad about no co-op. +helpful
Probably thinking of Hellraid--developed by same company and inspired by internal "mod" of DI. Mostly commenting so you can know the name (I forgot it earlier today). It sounds cool but want to see more of it as Dying Light is spotlight title ATM and think Hellraid is taking backseat to it (probably smaller team). Hopefully we see more of both next week though.
They actually announced 4 player co-op a while ago; it is toward the end of the article. http://www.polygon.com/2013...
Looking forward to this, game looks fantastic.
OMFG i need this game in my collection, the whole trailer was sick, but the end was where i really got hooked lol. Love this
It's looking to be a less arcadey Dead Island, and that's exactly what I am hoping it to be. The parkour is just a bonus.
The player got on my nerves. Girl:HURRY ITS ALMOST SUN DOWN Player:ok let me walk slowly to the package oh look a zombie. I could dash to the package and be on my way but no let me kill 15 zombies first. OH NO I'M LATE I WONDER WHY! If I was playing that package would've been secured in 5 mins max. In a way this makes me want to buy the game lol. Kudos to you crappy player.
Don't you think that, instead of the playing being crappy, this was setup(him being late) to showcase a big aspect of the game titled "Dying Light"? You know.... showcasing dying light. ;P
They could've passed the time by finding useful items or something and then zombies overwhelm him and he's running for his life then before you know it it's night. It'd be better than just panning around slowly and killing zombies to past the time.Showcase how fluid the free running is. Game looks great though.
Dying Light, you had my curiosity, but now you have my attention. This game actually looks really intense, and that's great.
I think this is what Dead Island should have been.
That's just what I was about to put. Yes, this is the Dead Island we've been waiting for.
Fun fact, it's made by the same team.
I realise that. I'm just saying where was all this when Dead Island Riptide released.
Have to say it looks awesome and still pre alpha. Visually plenty of eye candy everywhere (although sun rays bit much for me) however gameplay is where it looked a huge step up from Dead Island games IMO. The mobility is huge as in comparison DI was really clunky (animations appear smoother as well) as had a wide variety of options from sliding, wall hopping, even zombie leaping (near the end at night used it as a springboard which was sweet) among plenty more I already forgot or we haven't seen. Zombies seemed to follow "sight" at times too as circled back and behind some once. Combat was again a huge step up. Environmental damage (kicked zombie into rebar on a wall), multiple melee improvements (what appears to be contextual takedowns/releases) and more interesting "breaks" (bone snaps with better x-ray visual) and even "power attacks" (sledgehammer smash from above with area knockback). So much I probably missed too as on my phone ATM so limited screen size ;) This is definitely one of my most anticipated games (third party especially) now as looks pretty much exactly as they were alluding to how it would play (DI+Mirror's Edge). It looks extremely fluid as well and can't wait to see more of it (next week probably). I want to see more Hellraid too although its totally different type of game. This developer is quickly becoming something of a cult favorite of mine. I wouldn't put it up with likes of Valve, ND, Blizzard, etc but just make some cool and rather unique games and have enjoyed most of their releases this gen immensely (not without flaws but improve steadily, with possible exception of CoJ:Cartel IMO as skipped it completely).
Dead Island 3, then?
Drop kick at 5:09 made me lol
Looks really cool. I just worry I'll get motion sickness. I was getting near the point where I had stop the video, and feeling the effects now. A lot of older first person shooters used to do that to me, but not much anymore. I'll have to try a demo to see if it is one I can play. I'll be bummed if I can't.
best moment for me was when he used the big axe to hack that zombie in half down the middle. that shit was brutal lol.
Graphics look good, gameplay looks quite fluid. Hated the voice acting.
A fair criticism but it was head and shoulders above anything in Dead Island. It had abysmal voice acting. Just Cause 2 did as well but at least that had more than on thing to do. This however looks to be quite varied. Combat looks like Dead Islands but it has environment traversal and night time factors adding more variety to the game. That was Dead Islands biggest flaw as far i'm concerned and why I lost interest by the time I got to the research lab.
The voice acting was shocking just like in dead island. I think they need new voice actors lol. But it looked impressive.
Hope they make it work with oculus , sprinting + atmospheric survival horror on oculus = WIN
That's immediately what I thought about too. This game is perfect for the Oculus Rift. With those graphics and that intense gameplay it would be a wild ride.
This looks really really really good. Hopefully they will show more at gamescom.
So at night they become more powerful and have better senses? I like the way this game looks currently, I hope this game won't have as many annoying issues as Dead Island. This looks much more interesting. All that remains is a zombie game in a big city, 3rd person, with dangerous zombies, scary atmosphere with cars and upgrades to the cars and player, various weapons. + slicing the way Metal Gear Solid : Rising project had at the beginning, free cut.
I will be getting this for my xbox-one.
This is the next step that Dead Island needed to take. This is what we've been waiting for.
I want it...
I would like to know more about how the plague started;because i see the player getting bite multiple times on this video, but theres no reflection to the infected bites on the player,i hope it haves some kind of infected bar to showcase the player been infected when bited...if he gets bite multiple times without using some kind of anti-virus the player will eventually shift to a infected and die...Frankly i need more on the history and player development before thinking on picking this game.
Dead Island 3....on the mainland. Looks nice enough, I just hope the overall execution is better than Dead Island. I got bored with those games pretty quick. Upon further investigation....this is Dead Island 3...on the mainland with a little Last of Us mixed in for good measure. I'll probably pass on it unless something amazing about it comes out.
the game looks pretty good. what are the visual clues on where to run when it dark? I would get lost or just die many times over without visual clues... is there a safe room to hide out until it gets light? I am getting this game. I just hope these question are ironed out before launch...
Very nice loved the movement options and freedom .
This looks phenomenal! At least graphics wise, I hope it's not as stale as Dead Island.
