Project Phoenix is speeding towards its second stretch goal on Kickstarter, with $399,075 pledged at the moment of this writing. In the meanwhile some more interesting information about the game itself was shared.
I lost interest in this game once I found out it was a squad-based ,real-time strategy game. This game is basically just taking the JRPG artstyle, music and story and slapping western gameplay onto it. That not what us fans of JRPG want.
It's just another way to say Action RPG. There's really no difference with what you do in many other JRPGs out there, other than the fact that you actually control all the characters. By the way. I suggest talking for yourself, not for "us JRPG fans". I'm a JRPG fan, and I don't agree with you.
People are so quick to overreact and never give anything a chance on here. This game sounds so amazing to me. Nobuo Uematsu is on board too which is an instant win in my opinion. If you go to the Project Phoenix kickstarter page you can see a list of the people who are working on the game and several of them are anonymous and can't have there names revealed yet which makes me think that they are extremely talented and well known developers in the gaming industry. I wonder if Hironobu Sakaguchi is one of them.
Yeah, I even sort of find it offensive that they hired Nobuo Uematsu for the music. He's good and all, but just because he's composing the score doesn't make it a jrpg or jrpg-like. Nobuo Uematsu isn't the only japanese videogame composer. I guess what I'm trying to say is that the "jrpg" aspects of this game seem really superficially considered and implemented. I expect this game to be super-generic in the jrpg department. As for the gameplay, I can't say it sounds particularly special. Also I don't want this game to set a precedent for future jrpgs. That'd just be western cultural hegemony.
Why do you have to troll on every damn article? You already said the same thing on a differnt Project Phoenix article so don't get why you keep coming to articles of games you have no interest in?.
lol "offensive". Every single aspect of the game looks like it fits perfectly with a JRPG, so yeah, as the commenter above me said, either you don't know what you're talking about, or you're trolling. Nobuo Uematsu obviously isn't offended, since he's willing to work for free on it. May want not to feel "offended" on his behalf. PS: most of the team is Japanese, including the one leading it. Please get real.

@Gespent Come on mate, before you knock your hammer, why not give them a chance? More quality JRPG is better right? Besides, aren't you guys complaining about the lack of JRPG in this gen? But now you even not give this dev a chance one single bit for their attempt to make a unique JRPG :(
They didn't show any videos in order to understand how battles is going to be but from what I have read & if I understand right I don't like this, they say that the battles will be "real-time" do u know what that means? real-time means that u will be able to control just 1 char & the rest will be on AI that's what real-time do to RPGs & u know that's what I have in every FF game after FFX & that's why the franchise die after FFX for me. I want to be able to control all the characters in my pt this is not possible with a real-time battle system, this can happen only with turn-based battles also I really "hate" when characters from my pt is on some AI & fight by themselves, if the battles is as I suspect it will be then I'm not interesting for this game, I want full control of "all" the characters in my pt & I don't want "AI" controlling my characters so I w8 to see what they plan to do before I loose interest completely.
that's what I hate in every FF game after FFX*
@Mika You make it sound like thats a bad thing--- im also guessing "us" just means you.
