Don't believe Xbox One delay reports, says Microsoft

Don't believe the Xbox One delayed reports appearing online, Aaron Greenberg, chief of staff for Devices and Studios Group at Microsoft, has said.

Earlier today Game Reactor reported that the Xbox One will miss its planned November launch and instead hit stores in Q1 2014.

However, Greenberg has Tweeted to indicate this isn't the case.

"Ha, don't believe everything you read!" reads the Tweet.

I remember when they said the same thing about the always on policy. Why wouldn't he just say its not true?

HolyDuck1893d ago

I think I change in policy is completely different to a console being delayed.

Blackdeath_6631894d ago (Edited 1894d ago )

there are only 13 countries getting the xbox one at launch as confirmed by this http://news.xbox.com/2013/0... from MS so naturally the other countries will get it at a later date therefore it will be delayed.

for those to lazy to read "We remain committed to launching Xbox One in Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Netherlands, Norway, Russia, Sweden, Switzerland, as soon as possible in 2014." so it is being delayed till 2014 in some countries not a rumour ther article which originally sparked the rumour said "At this point we are not certain if this is a worldwide delay or whether it's limited to Europe." as it turns out the delay is limited to europe and that rumour is actually true

SilentNegotiator1893d ago (Edited 1893d ago )

Once again, Microsoft calls their OWN words "a rumor", just like how they called their own announced policies a "rumor" when they were repeated.

Ridiculous. Can their PR just fess up to something for once? Not being straight forward about the delay in many regions isn't going to change anything.

Blackdeath_6631893d ago

@SilentNegotiator
not sure if you are dimwitted or something but in the OFFICIAL xbox website the title smack bang at the top of the screen in bold letters reads"Xbox One Launch titles CONFIRMED" see what i did there? i highlighted the key word in capital letters. here's the link try again http://news.xbox.com/2013/0...

@Good_news_every1
LOOOOL my bad i meant launch markets goddamn it. i feel like shit now.
i apologise to the N4G comments section i wrote that comment in a hurry because i needed to go somewhere today is a stressful day in the uk

SilentNegotiator1893d ago (Edited 1893d ago )

@Black death
It has been delayed in several regions.

From your own link that shows how "dimwitted" I am:
"we announced that Xbox One would be available in 21 markets around the world at launch...we have adjusted the number of markets that will receive Xbox One in November to 13 markets...We remain committed to launching Xbox One in Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Netherlands, Norway, Russia, Sweden, Switzerland, as soon as possible in 2014"

For many people, it has absolutely been delayed to 2014.

And yet they're only releasing the Xbone in 13 countries....yeah no yield issues there. lol

devwan1894d ago (Edited 1894d ago )

Exactly, if you live in one of those 8 countries the rumour is indeed fact and obviously the source of it.

Even worse still is if you live somewhere like Poland or Japan, they really don't think you matter enough to give you even 2nd tier status... microsoft's third world countries.

Deadpoolio1894d ago

Well considering they just slashed the 21 launch countries down to 13 tells you they are that behind in production and that most likely the eSRAM overclocking the GPU to the point that they have to underclock it are true.....

Nobody that is moving along with production as they should at this point has to slash launch countries...Hell Sony has reopened pre orders like 4 different times so obviously they are more confident in their production than MS

Anon19741894d ago

I didn't realize they released a list of launch countries prior. Obviously something isn't going as they had planned to necessitate the drastic measure of delaying so many countries in such a short time since they announced these launch countries.

Of course, if the console needs to be delayed, delay it! That's infinitely preferably to launching a console that isn't ready as we saw with the 360.

Spenok1893d ago

How is NatureofLogic's comment trolling? It is a valid statement. They have backtracked (albeit for the better) many times since the Xbox One was announced. Which them saying this isn't reassuring.

ALSO! This "rumor" is in a sense true. Just not in the way presented. The major regions will still be getting it this year in November. However many regions have been cut back until next year. From 21 markets announced at E3, to 13. They are even compensating with a free game to those affected.

So while their answer is true, it's only half true.

Hicken1893d ago

Same reason my comment below is trolling.

Some people are sensitive around here, but the fact is that the delays are real. It doesn't have to be universal; the delays are real in at least SOME places, which is about the same as them being real everywhere(since the delay in those certain countries is likely done to make sure supplies are available in the remaining areas, hinting at a production issue that could have just as easily caused a complete delay in launch).

In the end, people are right to mistrust Microsoft right now. But saying so can get you hit with a Trolling bubble.

devwan1893d ago (Edited 1893d ago )

"So while their answer is true, it's only half true."

So it's also half false? :)

Sometimes it seems Microsoft's left hand doesn't know that the right hand is doing. Earlier in the day when directly asked about the rumour, Aaron Greenberg denied there was going to be any delay and laughed it off: "Ha, don't believe everything you read! We will share more details at Gamescom.". Then moments later ms confirmed the 8 countries that will no longer be getting the xbox one at launch, but instead some time in 2014.

The reasons why this is happening, supposed regionalisation issues, are pretty farcical tbh - the Netherlands and Belgium are both sizable markets with many natively speaking languages xbox one will support on day one. Much more likely reason would be hardware production issues.

NatureOfLogic1894d ago

I don't think he denied a delay. I seems like an announcement for a delay should be sometime next week.

s8anicslayer1894d ago

According to his twitter it appears he's mocking the rumor so I'd say it's safe to say he's shooting it down.

"Ha, don't believe everything you read!"

Logic tells me that the rumor of it being delayed to January is not true, perhaps they're still on course for November until they've said otherwise.

Minato-Namikaze1894d ago

Well it was "certain countries" if it still launches in NA in November they can still be right.

phinch1894d ago

to me its saying , we are delaying it, but not till 2014

Darrius Cole1894d ago (Edited 1894d ago )

There is no way in hell that Microsoft releases the Xbox 1 in Q1 2014. They are going to release the Xbone this holiday season even if the system doesn't turn on when you hit the power button. They'll fix that later.

No_Limit1894d ago (Edited 1894d ago )

November release confirmed directly from Xbox support when asked about the rumored delay.

"The Xbox One has been announced for release in November 2013."
https://twitter.com/XboxSup...

PSVita1894d ago (Edited 1894d ago )

See that's some tricky word play because basically all he said was they HAD announced it for November. Then goes on to say they can't comment on the rumor. Just say yes or no, what so hard about that? I'm not saying I think it's true or not but if you're going to issue a statement in reply to a rumor you should answer it.

Deadpoolio1894d ago

Cause 360 support is certainly going to know about production lol.....Wow you know that don't believe everything you read works both ways right, Support is not the area to quote as they would NOT know about production problems....

They are obviously having problems when 21 countries get slashed to 13...I know for a fact that GameStop was only given altogether about 50 pre order per store compared to the 150 they got for PS4s

Thomper1894d ago

I half agree with you... What is there to share if there is no truth in it? Unless they announcing the actual November release date!?

Ah, good stuff.

Sounds like he's hinting at a release date at Gamescom.

n4rc1894d ago (Edited 1894d ago )

Well that didn't take long.. Lol

Knew it was bs

Edit.. Disagree all you want trolls..

rainslacker1894d ago

MS has way too much vested interest, and way too much competition to delay the system till next year. Before Black Friday is pretty much a given unless they are having serious issues with production.

Even if production isn't fully ramped and systems are limited, they would be better served to get it out as soon as possible.

I'm glad it's not true. I know there are people that are looking forward to getting one, and I know how I would feel if the PS4 was delayed. :)
