I Disagree: Assassin's Creed

Assassin's Creed is a hugely successful series but is it a franchise that merits its success or is it an example of everything that is wrong with the industry?

"Assassin's Creed is a hugely successful series but is it a franchise that merits its success or is it an example of everything that is wrong with the industry?"

At the beginning (the first two titles)the series merited it's success. In it's current state however, I would say that as soon as it went annual, it turned into "everything that is wrong with the industry".

Sad too, as the story had such great potential that it never saw to fruition. At this point it feels like LOST, where the creators aren't entirely sure where it's headed, they only know it's popular and that it must continue.

LOST is a great example to compare it to I think.

it is very difficult to take it seriously when you know it is being so blatantly milked as a franchise. I'm all for being able to treat a game as a game and judge it on its own merits, but the dull mechanics really enforce that sense of lethargy.

I'm playing ACIII right now and must say it's pure crap compared to ACII or even Brotherhood.

The game has lost lots of it's core gameplay mechanics, has worse graphics and a boring story and characters. Definitely it should be called AC downgraded.

I fear what Black Flag will be headed if it is anything like ACIII.

All this makes me agree with both the above posters.

Every industry has these issues

Some companies I’ve worked for were great and some were toxic as hell (UPS when I was a teenager was extremely toxic and I have heard it still is) It all starts at the top. They either hold people accountable , set standards and treat people with respect or the crap rolls downhill.
