Interview - VooFoo: Wii U's “Full Potential Has Not Yet Been Realised”

During last week’s European Nintendo Direct, Satoru Shibata focussed attention on eighteen new indie titles heading to the Wii U from European developers over the coming months. Pure Chess was just one of these titles, which has previously received a warm welcome on PSN. Nintendo Enthusiast decided to ask Mark Williams, Technology Director at Voofoo studios, some questions to find out more about this game.

"Full Potential Has Not Yet Been Realized”

Quick example.. Remember when Halo 3 came out on the 360 and then years later Halo 4? There was a big leap in visuals right? Same will happen with Wii U.

I hate Microsoft but I'd have to be blind not to say that Halo 4 maybe the best looking game of last generation. I believe the last video game console cycle was so long that the eighth generation kind of started with Halo 4, Skyrim etc.

I happen to share your opinion. I love my Wii U. It's a great video game console! If I'm having fun I win!

To be honest though, up until just recently before pikmin 3 release and Wonderful 101 demo, I was worried. But now, with pikmin 3 being freaking beautiful and W101 being kick ass.. it's just looking awesome. Great releases every month from here on out!

TripC50 - I would agree with that statement, although Lego City Undercover was a fantastic game as well, and here's hoping more people get to play that game once the install base starts to grow.

But Pikmin 3 and Wonderful 101 are both fantastic games and must haves for any Wii U owner.

Yea wii u is awesome I can just imagine what a good ground of devolpers can make with the hardware ...that's being said a lot of people complain about it not having any games but I been happy since I got it at launch .....sure they could of been more games but call of duty kept me busy and injustice with there online for months allready and Lego, zombie u batman , and ac3 and mario , etc held me down for months since launch and i been enjoying the Vc games since they started ..so I must say I been happy since I got mines maybe its cause I also have a 360 and ps3 so that's why I didn't really see a game drought too ...but now since pikmin 3 and the w101 demo there shouldn't be any complaints from no one about games .....my only complaint was that the console loaded slow and now that's been fixed with the last update so I'm super happy I actually don't play my other consoles that much any more cause I'm used to the wii u pad as part of my day ... i wake up and eat breakfast while reading the news or watching a video on the wiipad ..I get home from work and eat dinner while watching or reading the news on the wiipad later at night I'm able to hang out with my wife while she watches her shows I'm still online on face book ,n4g etc ...and this whole summer I been BBQ in my back yard at night while enjoying a few cold ones a few smokes and a few games of call of duty online .... After my wife falls to sleep at night i place it next the my night stand and fall asleep watching a movie and on my days off I can play on my big screen so how can the wii u not be a great machine I just think a lot of people just don't like Nintendo so they hate there consoles and games with out even trying them ...and for the record every body compares the wii pad to a iPad and I say there no compareing cause them all the iPad has better is the screen ant that you can take it outside cause with a iPad you don't got buttons or a d pad plus the the games on it will never be as good as nintendos and the wii u Internet browser runs circles around the iPads I have a iPad 4

Yeah, we know. No console is ever truly "tapped out". Especially not this early into it's lifecycle.

I don't know why developers even bother saying things like this. It's just as annoying as the developers who claim they're somehow using 100% of a next gen console's potential before it's even been released and before they've actually learned how to properly program for it.

Five of the best board games on Xbox One

James writes - "When family and friends come round, the drinks are flowing and the chat grows tiresome, it’s usually time to venture to the board game cupboard. Half the time is spent setting it up and packing it away, but there’s an even easier way to enjoy the world of board games at the press of a button... via the Xbox One."

Uno and Pure Chess are great. Very tempted by battleships.

I've never played any board games on a console, thanks for the suggestions.
