Do people even use the PS3 for games? I mean they use it for movies, but how about the games? That seems like a pretty usless feature to me, well... that and sixaxis. MS got rid of it's useless feature the HD DVD, does that mean Sony will give up gaming side of the PS3, since it's pretty well... uh... "useless"?

DEADEND6280d ago

WTF are you talking about, hell yea we play games on our PS3's. I got mine in September and I've bought about one game each month since and play every single day. And as far what you just said "MS got rid of it's useless feature the HD DVD" that's funny because last time I checked HD DVD got it's ass kicked and that's why MS does not support it anymore. Your trying to make it seem like they just didn't care lol, get a life your such a fanboy. I've met some 360 fanboys but the ones on this site like yourself are the worse I've come a cross.

Diugu6280d ago

I hope you feel better now that you finished writing you useless post.

Gorgon6280d ago

Hey guys, let JASON/MART/ETC be. The poor fella is just pisssed because of his useless, inept 360 (probably it is in repairs too for the 7th time).

Give the boy a break and let him vent a little bit...

Varsarus6280d ago

sigh, you do understand the ps3 ISN'T ONLY A GAMES CONSOLE, it's a COMPUTER ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM, yes you can watch movies with it, which is a good thing, but wouldn't you think ppl would play a game on it ahead of time? due to the playstation brand being popular as a game console in the past?

butterfinger6280d ago

but I find it funny that someone would be dumb enough to try to make fun of the PS3 by actually promoting it in a way. lol. OMG! I can't believe you would even buy a PS3 that has games and is the only console that plays blu ray movies and has free online. How dare you get more than a gaming console for your money! Lol. Maybe I am watching a blu ray movie in 1080p with 7.1 surround, or maybe I'm playing Uncharted or Heavenly Sword. At least I have options and I don't have to pay monthly to use it. :P

Jeebs6280d ago

Ohhh Jason. Do you ever tire of being wrong?

Hercules6280d ago

not understand that the ps3 main purpose is the games? i mean how retarded can you be? i never heard that in my life? if we dont use our ps3 for the games, why not just buy a blu-ray player instead...think before you post

TheKungFool6280d ago (Edited 6280d ago )

"Do people even use the PS3 for games?" - JASON 360

Assassins Creed, Devil May Cry 4, Lost Planet, HL2:OrangeBox, Oblivion, CoD4, RockBand, Army of Two, Condemned 2, Rainbow Six Vegas, Darkness, Turok, The Club, Guitar Hero III, Ghost Recon AW2, Rainbow Six Vegas 2, NHL08, Madden'08, Eternal Sonata, Burnout Paradise, Bully, Marvel Ulitmate Alliance, Kane & Lynch, Dirt, Tiger Woods'08, Ninja Gaiden, Grand Theft Auto IV, Resident Evil 5, Silent Hill 5, DeadSpace, Chronicles of Riddick, Fallout3.......

AND THOSE ARE JUST THE MULTIPLATS! there is also......

Resistance FoM, Uncharted, Heavenly Sword, Folklore, Warhawk, Ratchet&Clank, F1ChampEdition, MotorStorm, not to mention games like Metal Gear Solid 4, Final Fantasy XIII, Haze, Killzone2, LittleBigPlanet, Disgaea 3......

You sound like a broken record droning on about the PS3 having no games, except the reality is, I'm playing tones of games right now on my PS3, and many of them are the same ones most 360 gamers are playing. (aside from Halo, lol, and trust me, you can have that one!)

Zool 086280d ago

Jason360 knows the inevitable, nuff said!

t-0_ot-6280d ago

Okay.. true enough on what you said. But, how bout you think before you post? It is known that the PS3 is the cheapest Blu-Ray player on the market..

perils6280d ago

i dunno if its a feature but does the 360 ever use that green light that shows its working? maybe they should just chop that? joke. im sure it uses it sporadically. but seriousely grow up

Hercules6280d ago

i was thinking about that...but getting the ps3 for movies only is just plain stupid, dont you think? if you are really to pya $30-40 for a movie, spend an extra $20-30 for a game, then again, thats just imo

t-0_ot-6280d ago (Edited 6280d ago )

Yea.. I think it'd be stupid to buy a PS3 JUST for movies.. but that's my opinion. But, for people that just want to watch movies on the Blu-Ray format, then the PS3 is the cheaper choice to pick up, even if it does play games, it's still cheaper than the other Blu-Ray players. I'm sure as far as they are concerned, it's just a Blu-Ray player and not a gaming console. I went to Best Buy and saw that the cheapest Blu-Ray player was about $75 more than the PS3..

What would you pick up if you wanted something to play Blu-Rays? A PS3 or a Blu-Ray player that costs $75 more?

leon766279d ago

jason, how can you say so much deep sh*t in only one post?????? Wow, I think you broke a record!!!!

If you asked a PS3 fan they would all say "I got 1080p" which they don't, because thier playing it on an old "get up and change the channel TV" because they spent all the money on the console.

I have a computer monitor that's displays 1080p. The tech is still to new and the price is still to high. When plasma first came out, very few people could spend $5000 to $15,000 thousand on a TV. I'm going out on a limb, and going to assume it's still like that :)

Tempist6280d ago

I use quite a bit of the items in the article.

As for the 1080p, yeah I play on 1080p on a 24" LG LCD PC monitor. This is an upgrade from a commodore64 monitor (which makes games look great and smooth).

green6280d ago (Edited 6280d ago )

i have heard alot of people say that true 1080p can only be displayed on a screen from 37inches upwards.Last year christmas there was an article posted about an Asus 32 inches 1080p lcd,but alot of people rubbished the 1080p signal.

i use a 32 inches lg lcd that displays 1080i/720p but accepts 1080p signals from blue-ray players.

Gorgon6280d ago (Edited 6280d ago )

"...because they spent all the money on the console."

A 40GB PS3 is cheaper than a 360 Elite. Fanboy coments are -----> way.

"I have a computer montiter that's displays 1080p. The tech is still to new and the price is still to high. When plasma first came out, very few people could spend $5000 to $15,000 thousand on a TV. I'm going out on a limb, and going to assume it's still like that :)"

Not true. You can buy an EXCELENT 1080p 40'' HDTV for less than 800 dollars, for example a Samsung M87/M86. Even Sony's new W4000 series are going to be extremely price competitive and they are as good as LCD HDTVs get.

GREEN:

Not true. There are 32'' LCD TVs that display at 1080p.

EDIT: the phantom disagreer strikes back. Guess he's pisssed off at his 360 and has to go into PS3 denial mode.

DEADEND6280d ago (Edited 6280d ago )

OMG your so freaking annoying, look it's not our fault that you don't have 1080P tv or that your last gene 360 hardware does not support it like the PS3. If MS did a better job on the 360 instead of rushing it out like they did maybe you would be enjoying 1080P movies and games like us PS3 owners. Hell that's why the PS3 is out selling the 360 in all regions since January, because people know that the PS3 is better and is future proof. It's sad when the 360 can't out sell the PS3 in NA it's strongest region and it's even sadder when they can't out sell it when they just had a price cut even though it's all most half the price of the PS3 and with more games. VERY SAD

JasonPC360PS3Wii6280d ago (Edited 6280d ago )

Did you just actualy compare the cheapest version of the PS3, to that of the most expensive version of the 360?

That was like the biggest laugh I had all day, I'm using alcohol wipes to clean my laughing spit off my monitor.

tweaker6280d ago

Gorgon, I think what green is trying to say is that you won't see any difference if your trying to view a 1080p game or movie on a 37" or less screen size. Which is true, I already tested this myself. You're better off running the source at 720p even if the TV or monitor is capable of 1080p inputs. I highly suggest going over 42" inch if you want to see 1080p at its full potential.

Gorgon6280d ago (Edited 6280d ago )

JASON:
Why not? Its outselling your dear ULTRA-CHEAP ARCADE 360 even in North America, isn't it? Not to mention that the cheapest PS3 is way ahead of the more expensive 360.

Hear, let me help you with those tears. I'm sure the Xbox 720 will be quite better. It will even sport a blue-ray drive and an HDD in every SKU, I'm sure. In fact, I even plan to buy one to replace my PC at that time.

Yes, thats true, but only for movies. As far as movies go, unless you have a 40''/ 46'' or above you aren't going to see any difference between a 720p and a 1080p source. In gaming you will always notice the difference, just like you will notice the diference in resolution no matter waht computer monitor size you have. More resolution in games means more on-screen stuff and less aliasying. Just upscale a PS2 game and see the diference. Problem is present day consoles will have the majority of their titles at 720p since 1080p is too taxing for most games.

okcomputer6280d ago

Thats a pretty fair comparison imo. I own both consoles and while the 360 has better games, on the hardware front the ps3 is the superior product. Other than the larger hd (which you can buy cheap for the ps3 anyway, no brand specific crap like the 360) What features does the elite have that a 40 gig ps3 not have? And don't forget the 40 gig has blu ray and wi-fi, which the elite doesn't have.

SL1M DADDY6280d ago

Not sure what you are getting at but my guess is you’re just talking out of your back side. I for one have a 47’ 1080p set and every PS3 owner I hang out with locally has a 1080p set. Just because you don’t have one doesn’t mean that nobody else does.

mesh16280d ago

we hear this all year but yet the ps3 lags behind by 10 million unit each year just leave them hey are use to dissapointment i can bet 1 million percent that in jan 2010 the 360 wills til be 6-7 million units head of the ps3 every 1 knows this and im not a fanboy i own both consoles.

prunchess6280d ago (Edited 6280d ago )

your 1 bubble says it all really - not a fanboy?! pull the other one.

MikeGdaGod6280d ago (Edited 6280d ago )

dude again you show how lame you are. why even come on here talking about things you know nothing about?

i have two 1080p tvs, one plasma, one lcd. the one i game on now is the LG 42LB5D, full 1080p. do some research.

stop acting like a p*ssy just because your piece of sh!t has to upscale EVERYTHING to get a half-ass hd picture. just because you're broke as hell, you don't have to put everyone in your category.

me and my buddies ALL have 1080p sets (most more than one), ps3's, and no busted 360's. unlike you we don't put-up with crap products.

EDIT: sorry to all my 360 buddies out there but this goofy was asking for it.

Blackcanary6280d ago

1080P on my 19 inch HD LCD TV for my PS3. don't you look stupid lol.

LevDog6280d ago (Edited 6280d ago )

Actually I do.. I have a 56' Samsung DLP 1080p Slim.. So I do use it.. For games and Blu Ray.. Your obviviously a 360 owner.. Hey whats it like watching HD DVD on your crap 26' tv.. Any new movies coming out for HD DVD.. Let me go check the HD DVD section at best buy.. oh wait... by the way my tv was only 1800 bucks.. There are massive deals out there.. You IDIOT

PumPum6279d ago

I have a 1080p native 37" LCD digital tv, and yes i have my ps3 set on FULL HD 1080P and it looks amazing.

Silellak6279d ago

I got a 73 inch 1080p DLP for $2200.

Which is less than the $5000 you quoted.

Just sayin'.

JasonPC360PS3Wii6279d ago

Click on your profile and most of you are PS3 fans, and you all claim to own 1080p.

That couldn't have been easer... hook line and sinker.

Silellak6279d ago

Hey Jason,

I don't own a PS3. Just a 360. Sorry, champ.

JasonPC360PS3Wii6279d ago

Thats why the word "most" was used in my comment.

TapiocaMilkTea6279d ago (Edited 6279d ago )

Maybe not for games, but 1080p is pretty important if you wanna watch blurays, and to say this is a useless feature in a PS3 is ridiculous. Didn't we learn anything from the format war?

Nyllo6279d ago (Edited 6279d ago )

1080p cannot be displayed under 37", you can display 1080i under that though, I have a 32" Samsung LE32R88 and I cannot reach a 1080p signal, unless I plug it into my 42" Bravia.

Most moniter/TV makers will LIE outright that it has 1080p because that is the standard, but rarely are any titles in FULL HD and any TV's in FULL HD, and if you are, you would know because they cost a bomb to buy.

And also let me say, unless you had a robotic eye the difference between 1080i/p is virtully nothing apart from the way the lines communicate to each other.

MikeGdaGod6279d ago (Edited 6279d ago )

if you own a 1080p tv, you'd want a PS3. if you own a PS3, you'd want a 1080p tv. they compliment each other.

you just proved my point, you're a Lame. you waste your time clicking on people's profiles to try to see what type of fan they are. then, try to convince people you made a point with fvcked up logic. LOL

"If you asked a PS3 fan they would all say "I got 1080p" which they don't, because thier playing it on an old "get up and change the channel TV" because they spent all the money on the console."

i don't know where you're from, but where i live, we can buy more than one thing at a time.

please child, try again.

btw....i just bought the lcd from Best Buy for $1060, $1152 after tax. its called a sale.

1080p compatible TV's are kinda cheap now. I just bought my second one, a 60" Panasonic plasma for the bedroom and moved the bigger one in the living so my girl don't bug me. Sadly I can't use the plasma one though...... well, not yet. lol

I should be set when GT5P arrives to the states. Only thing missing now is the G25 wheel. The c0ckpit is already about 3/4 finished. Can't wait!

tigertom536280d ago (Edited 6280d ago )

well I use 1080p got lg 42 inch for 1300 not bad price and pretty good specs. I use the 360 pc connectivity all the time, I show family and friends my photos. I rec my tv show on my computer and play back on my 360, and download some pod cast to play back on my console, as well lesson to my huge music collection, plus have made a few play list while play games like cod4. plus music sounds awesome on my jbl home theater system. a person that doesn't use the feature really should.
