Monster Hunter Frontier G announced for Wii U, PS3

I'm pretty sure this is just new versions of the same MMORPG spin-off released for PC in 2007 and Xbox 360 in 2010 in Japan and Korea only (I know right, Asia only and they make an Xbox version bot no Playstation or Wii, Crapcom at it's finest).

If that's the case, there wasn't even rumor of considerations to bring this game to western so far, I don't think PS3 or WiiU version have much better chances.

Still, PS3 Monster Hunter this late and I have to sell my PS3 to buy a PS4... So either I'll miss on Monster Hunter or have to hold my entry into next-gen. I never hated Capcom so much as I do this very moment.

EDIT: My bad, I got MH entries confused. MH Frontier Online was released in 2007/2010, apparentlly MH Frontier G was released this year in April for PC and Xbox 360 in Japan.

The 10 Monster Hunter fans outside of Japan will be disappointed.

I'm just kidding about 10, but there's not a huge fanbase in the west, so there's not a really good chance it'll be released here.

If anything though, I think the PS3 version atleast has a chance to be brought to the west for those that are interested.

This is useless and pointless news outside of Japan because NO, this is not coming to America. Why would it? There already is a Monster Hunter out in Japan for PS3.....one that was already localized for every language so no extra monet had to be spent for that in Monster Hunter Portable HD.

If they didn't release the one that anyone could just buy and own at an affordable price....... meaning it would have more mass appeal outside of Japan, they surely aren't going to release the MMO version outside of Japan.

It's a shame Capcom is so ignorant of what Monster Hunter could be outside of Japan. They have no confidence in it for some reason which I don't get. Monster Hunter isn't the problem....because it's amazing. The problem is Capcom's lack of vision for the franchise. There has been no evolution to the series, in fact it's DEvolving imo. Such a shame because it's one of the few games that gameplay wise, it's nearly PERFECT. All it needs to be brought up to the next level is graphics. By now the in-game of Monster Hunter would be even beyond the CGI videos in the franchise. It's totally doable and would sell amazingly well imo if the graphics are crazy. Like that Deep Down trailer level.

PS3 can have it, I would much rather have a new monster hunter, or at least a more recent one on PS4 than this old arse one.

I can't even begin to understand why this is releasing on Wii U when the Wii U got Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate.. Why would anyone want to play frontier having that instead? I cannot see this version selling well on Wii U when everyone already has MH3U.

I meant to put console sales/potential. The console only sold about 390,000 world wide this year and only has about 3.45 million total since launch. This is very underwhelming compared to ps3/360 performance. While they've sold a good amount of copies on the system that would pale in comparison if they were on other consoles. It will be interesting to see the exclusive sonic game coming out fares.

Actually, Capcom said that Monster Hunter Ultimate 3 sold well and was a smash hit on the Wii U. They said the digital sales of the game were good, and better then the physical sales.

Anyway.....Tri on the Wii was a definite success and Ultimate has sold great on the 3DS also. The Wii U version didn't sell as much, but Capcom were still pleased with the numbers it managed. Japan breathes handheld gaming so it was expected. I'm not sure where you get your news from, but there's absolutely no reason for Capcom to be disappointed.

This game has been exclusive to the 360 (and PC) for months now in Japan. As a console port requiring very little resources, it's expected to see it make it's way on to both the ps3 and Wii U.. Capcom is all about business. They obviously believe the franchise would benefit more on a Nintendo handheld. It's not like the DS hasn't sold 150 million+ and the 3DS is on route to enjoy the same success while the Vita continues to struggle.

Here's a fact for you. Monster Hunter did not begin its life on a Nintendo console or handheld. The very first Monster Hunter game was for the PS2, the King of Consoles that has sold more units than any other before or after it. If Capcom were "about business" then logically speaking Monster Hunter would have appeared on the PS3 early. Instead, Capcom were about some random philosophy, if you don't want to believe they made a deal with Nintendo, and decided "f*** the PS3 we're going with Nintendo's consoles, Sony can have the handheld versions on their handheld that everyone (including us) says is dead."

Capcom put Monster Hunter on Nintendo's devices because it's a safe bet. They don't have to worry about spending a lot of money on developing the game since Nintendo platforms aren't big on the graphics, and if the games don't sell so well then they don't lose as much. That's the long and short of it.

I'm pretty sure that this Nintendo MH exclusivity deal is confirmed. Capcom is notorious for being greedy and trying to maximize profit. Hell, look at RE on the 3DS and how they ported it to consoles a year later. Capcom has always been a multi-platform company and it just doesn't make sense that they would limit one of their biggest franchises to just one company. The only logical conclusion is that Nintendo paid Capcom to keep MH exclusive - at least for a set time frame.

I agree, but thanks to Nintendo and Cashcom selling out, there's an exclusivity deal in place that prevents them coming to the Vita. On the upside, due to there not being any MH games on Vita i have discovered God Eater Burst (and will be purchasing God Eater 2 when it releases) and also like the look of Toukiden, both quite similar to MH but looking a bit better, and both exclusive to Vita if i'm not mistaken :)

Hope this comes stateside. I never got into Monster Hunter. I tried playing Tri on the Wii and got bored super quick. I'm hoping (if it does come over on the ps3) that I can actually get into this one. I'm always jealous when I hear there's games that people can literally becoming addicted to and keep playing. This isn't a good game to start off on, it has a subscription based price model. Around $15 a month and it will probably never make it west. Try tri again, it's EXTREMEMLY boring at first, but after you get past the instructions and start playing online it's really fun, but I heard the wii one no longer supports online. If you want/can, try MH3U (updated MH tri) for 3ds or Wii U though I don't think 3ds has online on it's own either, but instead has local play.

As much as I enjoyed MHFO years ago, it would feel like a downgrade after playing MH3U for so long.

You can't go underwater and there are no new monsters from MH3U, but there are plenty of new monsters that aren't in any other MH game.

There is no switch axe either.

The game was great back when I was playing the PSP MH games because it felt like an upgrade.

That I am sure people can understand the whole lack of games things at launch but holding off on PS4 for this game, that is a big mistake. This monster hunter is not one of the best by a long shot.

Like I have said in previous posts here if you want to play MH, if you have a 3DS or Wii U. You are really better off waiting for MH4 or just getting MH3U.

Even Portable 3rd on PS3 is worth more time than this one.

I can't even understand why so many are so excited over this news.. To me it is kind of a slap in the face, so after years of not getting MH on PS3, they give PS3 users this really crappy MH that people barely played in the first place that was already released on 360 in 2010 and on PC in 2007.

This one is so old, it failed on the 360 and on PC. Play MH4 or MH3U and save yourself the time and money.

I think many people think this game is new or something, only reason I can think so many are god smacked by this announcement. Other than some content and the G there is nothing new about it. It was probably one of the worst Monster Hunters also.

You don't have to take my word for it. I know when this comes out and everyone has their hopes so high.. They are going to be extremely disappointed in getting so hyped up over this. Buy it, go ahead. Just don't say I didn't tell you so.
