Destructoid- Review: Shadowrun Returns

DT:High fantasy, cyberpunk, and film noir collide in a way that makes you think they were meant for each other all along in Harebrained Schemes' appropriately, if not imaginatively, titled Shadowrun Returns. Based on the popular tabletop role-playing game -- which also spawned console adaptations in the early '90s -- it subverts and defies genre expectations in both theme and mechanics, and most importantly allows you to create a troll samurai with a penchant for hacking and shooting people in the face.

This game is awesome! What's exciting is that the fan community is already in progress making a 100+ hour campaign that covers all of the official Shadowrun source material from the 2050s setting. Another group of fans are completely remaking the SNES campaign. And then of course there are brand-new fan-written missions and campaigns. It's gonna be awesome!

The main story was excelente for me, i didn't like the last section wich feels like a starship troopers thing, buy either way, is very well writen.
I'm sure the community will do wonders with this game.

I was on the fence about this one Dedicated but after reading what you said and the whole "remaking the SNES" statement I will be purchasing it right now!

I reviewed it on N4G here, pretty in-depth, too.

A word of warning: the player-made stuff is only JUST getting rolling so don't expect a trip to the moon (yet) when all they've built is the launch pad, if you'll allow a weird analogy.

@maniac.
Personally I'm going to start a playthrough of the Snes title until the release of the mod, and then I'll enjoy the mod itself. Just because I love Shadowrun and how much joy it's given me in less than a couple of days.

All three of these games are fucking badass

Yeah, I also loved SNES version of Shadowrunner, it was my favorite childhood game.

Sega (Genesis/Mega Drive) came out with one in 1994 and IMHO it was a more sophisticated game than the SNES one although I actually prefered the simpler SNES version.
