Ars Technica: Hot Shots Golf: Out of Bounds Review

Ars technica writes: "When I received Hot Shots Golf: Out of Bounds for the PlayStation 3, I was a little scared to play it; there are so many ways the game could have been made to suck. Poorly implemented Sixaxis control, superdeformed characters, a loss of what the series is about as it enters the current generation... there seemed to be many pitfalls for the title to avoid. Luckily, Hot Shots Golf: Out of Bounds manages to avoid all the potential missteps, and provides one of the better golf experiences on the market.

Some hardcore gamers sneer at the Hot Shots series, but that's elitist posing more than anything else: from the PS2 to the PSP the series has given us some fine arcade golf gaming, and now that high level of quality has carried over onto the PS3."

Will be picking up LBPK for 10 dollars. This might be the closest PS3 users will get to a steam sale on PSN.

A step in the right direction, Sony.

@Nitrowolf2, I have the Jak & Daxter and Ratchet & Clank collections on Disc, but if I didn't that would be a great way to get into those games.

Unfinished Swan was on sale during the Holiday Essentials sale and I missed it, so this time I don't plan on doing that again.

The Unfinished Swan – Regular $14.99, Sale $7.49, PS Plus $3.75
Ratchet & Clank – Regular $14.99, Sale $7.49, PS Plus $3.75
Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy – Regular $7.99, Sale $3.99, PS Plus $2.00

Already have the colelction, but since I'm Plus those prices are just to good to miss.

So you're buying a game you already have?

KangarooSam4105d ago (Edited 4105d ago )

Those are the three I'm planning on getting :P

I think. lol.

Great sale!

Edit: LBP Karting looks fun too, though. Not sure whether to get LBPK and US or US, R&C, and J&D. I need a sale where all four of those cost $15 haha.

@Calis

Yeah I am, $2.00 is dirt cheap, it'll be nice to have the extra digital version.

PS3 Games That I'd Like to See Get A Trophy Patch (Which Probably Won't)

SPC writes, "Like Uncharted: Drake's Fortune before it, recently Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots received a long-awaited patch, enabling trophies for prospective collectors to obtain. That sparked an interest in me to see what other games in the PlayStation 3 library that came out before Sony and third-parties' implementation of the trophy system. These five following games are ones that I would no doubt be interested in playing through again if such a trophy patch were to be included, though the likelihood is not that high."
