Analysts believe that PS4 and Xbox One can stop the Mobile Games

Playstation 4 and Xbox One could help "revitalize the gaming market" that much has changed "since the advent of smartphones." So analysts expressed Digi-Capital who are studying game sales decline of 2012 now in recovery for this year and that is partly because of the mobile sales.

@Need4game No it won't. PS Vita is an amazing little device no doubt but that is handheld wise. The PS4 no doubt will get smaller, as Sony just about slims everything later on.

It will never get that small though, it would have to be severely crippled if that was the case just to prevent over heating.

I mean in a way the PS Vita is already that. If the PS4 were that small, it would be just like the PS Vita is what wouldn't make much sense.

Having a console that small is just completely pointless and too risky.

i hate this mobile game kick, people think MS is money hungry. Mobile games are cheap 99 cent crap games meant to entertain you for 5-15 minutes at a time. very few of them are engaging and the ones that are usually are ports from consoles IE limbo. infinity blade is MEH, gaming on 4 inch screen just doesnt lend itself to robust experience but sadly the profit is there so thats why devs are all about it. make a quick fun 99 cent game that cost little to make and watch it rake it the money!

Gaming on the iPad is awesome. There's tonnes of great stuff. And a good game is a good game whether its a port or not.

I love console and PC gaming, and mobile gaming is now on equal footing too.

With some people complaining about the screens on phones being too small, I never heard that about the old handhelds.

There are absolutely genres that don't work, and probably never will on touch screen (such as FPS and anything where the devs try and crowbar joystick control in to a game), but other genres - such as RTS, digital board games, strategy, adventures, point and click are fantastic.

Dismissing mobile gaming just comes across as elitist nonsense from people who haven't scratched beneath the Angry Birds, IAP plagued surface. Sure there's a lot of rubbish - but check out any console game library and the mediocre outweighs the quality.

Yeah this is true. There are some really good iPad games, which are often just the phone version on a bigger screen. You rarely get the full console experience but there are some unique titles that make use of iPad that aren't found anywhere else. Year Walk anyone?

I kind of disagree with mobile fps gaming...Dead Trigger is a stupid fun fps on smart phones...and its not short on game play mechanics, either...full 3D aiming, ADS, etc...and its one of the less annoying free games in terms of microtransactions...you very much can beat the title without paying anything...

now granted...i wouldn't say its as good a console or PC shooter...and its pretty obvious that mission redundancy and level design is built around the idea you'll pick it up for only a few minutes at a time...but it proves the control scheme can work surprisingly well...

Was thinking about this last night, and I came to the realization that the mobile games are the equivalent of the old arcade games - very cheap to play, often crappy, good for wasting time. The only difference appears to be that at least you can take mobile games with you instead of having to go to an arcade and stand in line.

I wouldn't be surprised if they did. The demand for pre-orders is crazy. Were pre-orders ever this demanding in the PS3/360 or PS2/Xbox/Gamecube launch?

it was totally different...There was less of a relationship between the hardware makers and retail stores back then...while gamestop did do hardware preorder offers...it was never a guaranteed date...to get any of those systems quickly, you had to be at the right place at the right time...

just saying...excitement for the ps4 and xbox one is truly no different than before...its just now the industry started using preorder numbers as a way to gauge popularity and interest, and offer gimmicky BS through preorder bonuses...none of it is needed, but whatever...

Arrgh... Stop comparing home consoles to smartphones/tablets already.

Mobile gaming could grow into a bigger market and there's nothing wrong about it. However, consoles don't need to steal a piece from the mobile gaming pie, as they have their HUGE persistent market with dedicated customers already. It's not going anywhere in the foreseeable future so why would they feel threatened as long as they have the support of hardcore gamers who are willing to pay $60 for full-blown games?

If anything, more and more mobile/mini games will appear on home consoles at cheap prices for those who are interested.

That is just how the world works. It will never change, how do you think these first car companies feel or any person who was the first to invent or come up with a product that sold really well at one time? You start off as the first then there are hundreds of people doing the same thing later on. Times change.

Ride the wave while you can. That is about all you can do now, future proofing is pretty touch nowadays unless you just have billions to toss around.

Like I said that is how our world works, as time goes by businesses that were once the staple of everything, become spread thin in the same sense more ways to play games are available now, just like there are more options in cars to choose from now.

The same could be said about literally any product. That is why it is important to make an impact now more than ever, there is so much of the same thing going around if you don't. No one will care.

These systems will do fine in their own right but they aren't going to stop this cell phone and tablet fad anytime soon.

Games sales declined due a multitude of reasons, to many sequels, the continuing squeeze on finances and the new set of consoles on the horizon being just three. Mobile gaming is on the increase due to the rise of tablets, smart phones and a huge influx of people who didn't game before. Why oh why should PS4 and Xbox 1 compete with or try to emulate mobile gaming successes. They should concentrate on the core gamers, the guys and gals who made them what they are today.

But most mobile games can be picked up and played in seconds. 90% of the planet is not interested in games that require a half-hour or multiple hours per chapter. They want to pick up and play it for 10 mins and make some real progress.

Also, mobile games are convenient because they are on a device like a smart phone that you usually take everywhere. So whether I am at Wal-Mart or waiting for diner at a nice restaurant I can pick up, play, and make tangible progress in a mobile game.

I really hope they completely kill mobile games or atleast keep it at bay. And developers should know better that they need to develop "proper" games on gaming consoles and PCs. I admit there are decent games on android and iOS but still it can never compete to what PC's and consoles offer obviously.

Uhm....my article is in spanish or something,but from reading the title I say no,because if a home console crushes portable and mobile gaming completely(taking its place) then you will need a car battery,your ps4,a transformer(a device that generates more volt than is being output,not a robot) and a manslave with a flatscreeb taped to his back hahahahaha.
