Fallout Fan-film looks pretty official

Im thinking they need a kickstarter to make this a full feature.. If its as good as this short was I'd gladly pay to see it.. Puts a lot of multi million dollar Hollywood features to shame...

As awesome as that would be - they wouldn't legally be allowed to do that, since this is fan-made and they don't own the Fallout IP obviously.

They can't just start a Kickstarter campaign asking the public to help fund a movie that they legally have no rights to. They could get in a lot of trouble if Bethesda/Zenimax decided to take action and the project would be shut down immediately.

Ok and if Bethesda/Zenimax were to be approached by these people why is it implausible that they couldn't get the license? I understand how copyrighting works.. My point is that if they secure funding for a film I'm pretty sure that Bethesda would green light a full feature film especially if the kickstarter does well..

It's not impossible, but it is very unlikely. Look - if it were feasible, people would already be doing it right now - not necessarily with Fallout, but other franchises too.

You claim to know how these things work, yet look at the disagrees I'm getting from you and everyone else. Companies don't just license their IPs to the public!

You'll be doing yourself favor if you watch this film, it is seriously one of the best fanfilms I have ever seen.

For the next fallout game Bethesda should hire these guys to a web series to build up to the game, similar to Forward Unto Dawn.

This is really great. They did an awesome job taking the realism and lore of Fallout and capturing it on film. Looking forward to seeing more like this and definitely looking forward to Fallout 4!
