About turn: eight franchises in drastic need of a new direction

OXM UK: "As in any relationship, even our most beloved game franchises can end up feeling stale if they don't make an effort to keep things new and interesting. We aren't asking for Prophet to wear a racy new Nanosuit to bed every week, or for Sonic to shave his bristles, but we think the eight franchises below could do with a little bit of a shake-up - perhaps taking advantage of the capabilities of next gen platforms."

There are A LOT of games that should be on this list, subjective though it is.

Dead Space needs to go back to the first games atmosphere and weapon/combat system. Crafting is in every game today, take it the fuck out. This is typical EA trying to get COD numbers out of a former survival horror game, dumb the game down and focus on action.

Mr_Nuts3928d ago

I would like that aswell but after how much they ruined the franchise with DS3 especialy with the story can they do that.

Unless they write DS3 off as a what if scenario or a bad dream of Issacs created because of the Marker.

The 3 games that need more than anything else new direction & to go back to their roots is:

1.Silent Hill

2.Resident Evil

3.Final Fantasy

Those 3 franchises used to be my favorite games along with Metal Gear Solid, now only MGS continue to be my favorite franchise & those 3 not anymore, but I know what's the prob, the creator of MGS Hideo Kojima never left that's why the quality was always there, from the other hand all those games lost something vital, Silent Hill lost Team Silent, Resident Evil lost Shinji Mikami & Final Fantasy lost Hironobu Sakaguchi & that was THE END, those franchises r now dead no matter how sad that makes me, but I/we can't do anything about it.

Bullshit list. Crysis, Bioshock and Saints Row don't need a desperate new direction.

Back when games had balls. Now they still have balls, but also lipstick and a dress.

Or an angry purple streak in their hair to demonstrate they're a rebel.

And they claimed this place was one of the outhouses for Gamers™ and gamerGate Incels. Pfft! But look at bangerBro99's amazing display of Homo-eroticism. How far we've come.

So proud of you, bud. Now you go grab them balls and have all the fun. 👍

Outstanding!

PhillyDonJawn36d ago

They should remaster the first 2.

1nsomniac36d ago

I think the first one was the best in the series by a long, long way!

Demetrius36d ago

🥲🥲 someone needs to buy this ip and watch dogs, give those franchises a proper treatment sheesh

TheColbertinator36d ago

First 3 games were great. Then 4, Gat out of Hell and the Reboot were flimsy in comparison. Aliens, demons and a weak reboot in terms of intensity made the games forgettable.

Profchaos36d ago (Edited 36d ago )

But even 3 ventured into rediculas territory with zombies and stag. Zombies in 3 to me was just a hey you know what's popular zombies let's do that

TheColbertinator36d ago

The endgame of 3 did get stupid but the game held together at the end. 4 was just annoying all the way through.

Why Silent Hill Will Never Be the Same

Estelle Mejia says: Silent Hill, for those who don’t know, is a psychological horror survival series that has declined somewhat. Fans point to the fact that the original team who helmed Silent Hill 1-4, named Team Silent, has been split, either working on different games for Konami or leaving the company altogether. This has left the series without a consistent team to helm the series for about 20 years, give or take.
