Xbox One is now being marketed toward small businesses, and it shows signs of desperation.
I mean they're just trying move units. Gamers have already spoken and so Microsoft is directing their attention to other people not so well informed.
The Xbone is now a glorified overhead projector.
and glory-holed cable box.
I'm done with xbox now, All this NSA spying and freely handing over our details/skypecalls/messages to them, creating backdoors in their software is just all to much for me. God knows what else they'll do with Kinect etc... http://www.guardian.co.uk/w... I don't want NSA agents staring at my gigantic peen when i'm playing Kinect sports naked.
Disagrees are obviously NSA agents.
Another one of those articles by Maria! Wow, this guy has to be the biggest Sony troll on N4G. Either that or he works for Sony, cause this is just sad.
@georgeenoob I'm not sure if you are in denial or just can't read. These are facts, microsoft even admit it. I have an Xbox and a 360, I thought both were great to begin with, till the past 2 years and the game drought. Privacy is a serious issue, and all you idiots blowing it over and saying "oh yeah its fine for everyone to spy on us" don't deserve any privacy. Vote with your wallets, companies that support this bull should get the idea. Anyone who is interested in a google alternative (as they are in bed with the NSA also), try https://duckduckgo.com/ Keeps no information on you whatsoever.
@Fried Even if it is a fact, unnecessary fanboy headlines like "desperate are we" and memes like the one in the article is pretty much the same fanboy talk in every article by Maria.
I'd actually go to call it with the Xbox fanboys called the PS3 back in 2006-2007. Xbox One is a doorstopper, a boxy paperweight that comes with a mandatory-webcam. And if it's going to have heating issues like 360 did, as well ontop of that being their choice to Overclock? Well, it'll be good during the Oct/Nov/Dec months because it'll act as a good heater for your room! :D
Georgeenoob do you even know just how much in common you and Maria have.
@ FriedGoat, I'm sure the NSA agents have better things to do that watch your winky. Besides, they already have the photos!
@friedgoat appartently some people do want people staring at there peen while playing games naked LOL. Look at the disagrees they gave you 19 so far? wow! I can't believe there are sellouts disagreeing with your comment! Most be super fools, and or super perves!
This may be a bit mean but I imagined an MS employee pitching an Xbox One to a person saying "Every small business needs a surveillance camera!"
Even with a price tag of 599 my sony friends never stop from buying a ps3 and I never told them to switch to other platform, why these people trying so hard and doing what they can to convince xbox fans from buying their favorite console.... They are not using your money are they?
No, but they might be hurting the future of gaming by supporting this block of turd.
Yeah.. Like losing millions of users credit card info.. Or essentially condoning people to screw the developers that makes their games.. You can make a case that Sony is far worse for gaming then Microsoft.. But ya know what? It would be as unfounded as your claim.. Take a look around here.. Or play 5min of cod.. Gaming is already in the gutter compared to 10 years ago.. And its the users, not hardware manufacturers
@n4rc There's still zero proof that anyone made use of the encrypted cc data that came specifically from PSN. It was other divisions that were not so lucky.
SilentNegotiator but PSN was hacked, and yes personal data was exposed, and CC info was not encrypted. Why? Because Sony said so http://www.wired.com/gameli... and http://en.wikipedia.org/wik... "This is easily your saddest attempt ever. And that says a lot." :) http://stream1.gifsoup.com/...
Sony did the same thing with the PS3 when it first launched talking about stringing multiple consoles together to be a supercomputer. Even the US military bought thousands of them. http://www.google.ca/#outpu... There are tons of examples of the military doing so on multiple occasions. I guess Sony wasn't desperate huh but MS is? There is nothing "desperate" about a company looking at other markets to market their products and create revenue outside of their primary demographics. Seriously I am so embarrassed to be a gamer when the title of "gamer" has to be shared with Sony Fanboys.
Microsoft already changed DRM stuff and now its like 360 in terms of policy, the console its not only focus on gamers and if not happy gamers have a choice there's more consoles choices and other brands with different visions of whats the future of entertainment.
while I agree, big difference using PS3's with a very good CPU as a cluster supercomputer and selling a $500 videogame console for "video conferencing and networking"
You're embarrassed to be called a "gamer" because of Playstation fanboys? So you're not embarrassed about the Kinect tracking your heartbeats and recording every single thing you do in front of it? You're not embarrassed about people calling Xbox Live as the best thing since sliced bread, even though Steam is factually better? You're not embarrassed about the stupid Xbox One PR before they finally caved in, listened to fans (or rather the horrible pre-order sales), and removed that embarrassing DRM "feature"? You're not embarrassed about your own fellow Xbots who are petitioning to bring back the restrictive DRM, just because they want the family sharing plan, which is really an embarrassing "play for 45-60 minute demo" of the full game? AND you're calling Sony desperate when they teamed with the military to provide a supercomputer, when Microsoft is MUCH more horrible by teaming with the military to let them SEE everything you do in your house? If anything, I and many other gamers from all consoles should be embarrassed that we get to be grouped up by you. But it doesn't matter to you, right? Because Microsoft can do no wrong, and everything that's wrong with the gaming community is because of Sony, right?
@ GenericNameHere "So you're not embarrassed about the Kinect tracking your heartbeats and recording every single thing you do in front of it?" - Why would I be embarrassed about that? That's a pretty stupid comment you made there. Are you embarrassed that a stethoscope can listen to your hear beat? Please reduce your stupidity to a more acceptable level. What's embarrasing is Sony fanboys signing the petition in hopes that the XB1 will fail. http://n4g.com/news/1308957... So yes, Sony fanboys are the absolute worst in the gaming industry and are gamers...hence why I am embarrassed to be a gamer. "You're not embarrassed about people calling Xbox Live as the best thing since sliced bread, even though Steam is factually better?" - Again a pretty stupid comment....XBL is ONLY compared to PSN. Yes steam is great, but XBL in comparison to PSN IS much better in the current gen. "You're not embarrassed about the stupid Xbox One PR before they finally caved in, listened to fans (or rather the horrible pre-order sales), and removed that embarrassing DRM "feature"?" - Another stupid comment. Again, why would I be embarrassed about a company setting their own policies up for their own products? It's either right for you or it's not. MS's DRM policies were for the better of the business, ppl are now just realizing this hence the petition. DRM is not evil, DRM was going to ensure CLOUD could be used NOT just for multiplayer features, but also Single player features...now XB1 single player features will take place in a static world like what will be on the PS4. "You're not embarrassed about your own fellow Xbots who are petitioning to bring back the restrictive DRM, just because they want the family sharing plan, which is really an embarrassing "play for 45-60 minute demo" of the full game?" - Again, why would i be embarrassed about some people signing a petition to have a feature added to a product? If more people did petitioning, then companies can see a demand. You seem pretty ignorant when it comes to business, you must be a young kid. "AND you're calling Sony desperate when they teamed with the military to provide a supercomputer, when Microsoft is MUCH more horrible by teaming with the military to let them SEE everything you do in your house?" - Yes, you have solidified any doubts, you are just a kid. If you read up above me, it wasn't ME that brought up the whole "desperate" issues, it was the article. I was merely pointing out that Sony AND MS are NOT desperate for looking at other avenues to promote their consoles. Please read kid and try and comprehend.
"If anything, I and many other gamers from all consoles should be embarrassed that we get to be grouped up by you." - Uh...reality check...if you are a "gamer" then you are ALREADY grouped up hence the term "gamer". Try and keep up. " But it doesn't matter to you, right? Because Microsoft can do no wrong, and everything that's wrong with the gaming community is because of Sony, right?" - LMFAO, if you took sony's d1ck out of your mouth for just a moment, you would SEE that I defended MS by stating Sony did it too and that it is NOT a sign of desperation. Here, i will copy and paste my quote "There is nothing "desperate" about a company looking at other markets to market their products and create revenue outside of their primary demographics." - Do you see? You just made a mountain out of a mole hill and have NO reason to do so. Just because I indicated that Sony fanboys will say the stupidest things just to be anti-ms when IN FACT they ignore that their own precious company DOES THE SAME THING. As stated...THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH A COMPANY TO LOOK AT OTHER BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES TO MARKET THEIR PRODUCTS OUTSIDE OF THEIR OWN PRIMARY DEMOGRAPHICS. Now stop being a pathetic whinny little butthurt sony fanboy and pay attention to what you are reading and actually READ the whole comment.
@Lvl_up_gamer, Dang man, even for a troll you're unnaturally thick headed.
Okay, if you read the articles that you posted, then you would see that it was the military that approached Sony. They saw a way to create a supercomputing cluster of PS3's after the price cut to rival the price and efficiency of their $10,000 ones. Not really the same thing. I think that most are saying it's "desperate" not because it's another market. But, because there are other more viable alternatives to the Xbox one for what they are pitching.
Has anyone actually read all of what Lvl_up has written. It almost sounds shrill.
Stringing Ps3s was cheaper for creating supercomputers. Using a $600 console for video conferencing is NOT cheaper.
This was submitted by maria ms came 3rd... Jesus, what lengths people will go to because they do not like something else.... I think I now have the proper definition of loser... Here goes.... Mariahelfutura...
Holy shit... So they said in an interview that it could be useful for video conferencing in business.. Now suddenly they are marketing as a business tool? You take shit out of context and make up the rest.. The 2-3 halfwits that keep posting this crap need to get a life
desperate for hits are we?
What self-respecting business would allow a write off on an Xbox?
Actually they mention this back in December I thought when I heard them changing the face of business it would have been something more radicle But people really dont keep up Besides if your system can do more then market to a bigger audience Sony and MS are trying to sell consoles you dont think if the ps4 had the HDMI in and tv and media functions sony would not go after that market You ps4 fans are delusional The xbox can do more period Not sure about 100 more but still can do things the ps4 cant
@MariaHelFutura... Who is more desperate? MS for pitching Xbox One to businesses as an alternative for video conferencing or a certain segment of N4G posting up every little negative articles they can find about MS?
I should have known it was Maria.
I could not agree more. N4G repeatedly posts EVERY single article that attempts to show the Xbox One in a negative light. More power to their marketing and expanding!
I would like to say one thing... I called out @MariaHelFutura specifically but that isn't really being fair. Clearly he/she is not the only one posting up every little thing. As I told MariaHelFutura....the negativity on N4G of late has been pretty intense and its not really a good thing in my eyes. I really wish all gamers on N4G could just get back to focusing on games instead of trying to nit pick every little thing.
Welcome to the changing of console generations. The games will be taking a backseat for a while. Between now and the end of the year it's gonna be all about hardware specs, rumours, policies, consumer opinions, and sales. Best get used to it....seriously.
Jesus, where we you in 2006-2009? All this site was was Sony hate and MS trolls. So now that its flipped everyone needs to just focus on games? Lol turnabout is fair play.
Come now, Dlacy. You've been on this site almost seven years. Surely this isn't anything new for you. That said, it's not as if these things are irrelevant. The actions a company chooses to take- or NOT to take, for that matter- can potentially affect a company's approach to gaming. The message Microsoft is sending out into the public about the XBOne isn't very gamer-centric, overall. That may very well turn out to not have much of an effect on their product, but is it hard to see how it COULD have an impact? Microsoft has made a lot of missteps. They've turned some of those around, but a lot of them remain. Some of it has been PR. Some of it has been actual practices. The worrisome thing- and perhaps why some go too far with the negativity and criticism- is that some people haven't shown a shred of concern about ANY of it. With the TV and the mandatory Kinect and the DRM and the sports deals; with the big Kinect push on 360 and the dearth of exclusives late in the gen and the RROD issue... a rather lackluster end to one gen being followed up by an inauspicious start to the next, and some people don't bat an eye in concern. If enough people don't bat an eye, then what's to stop Microsoft from taking that silence as consent? I worry about the industry, so I worry about more than JUST whether or not the games are there, because while the games are obviously the most important part- for a gamer- they're far from the ONLY important part. A REAL gamer should care about all of it. If they're as core or hardcore as they claim, anyway.
Cry more. Deal with the heat or step out of the kitchen. Real gamers don't want an Xbone.
@Dlacy13g disagrees prove you are correct.
Another lame article... probably get approved. Anything Microsoft does is negative. Seriously, looks like Sony is paying people to make these stupid articles.
Every word you said (except switch "Microsoft" and "Sony" ) is what people were saying about all the "Sony is doomed" articles from 2006 all the way 'til 2009. The media hasn't changed. The internet hasn't changed. Fanboys haven't changed. They've simply changed their target and now Microsoft is in the crosshairs. Perhaps long-term Xbox 360 gamers can now sympathize a bit with what early PS3 adopters had to deal with for years on end.
Sony were in the naughty corner and now Microsft have there time in the corner. It's all childs play but at the end of the day if you piss of a child they are going to shout back at you.
"Perhaps long-term Xbox 360 gamers can now sympathize a bit with what early PS3 adopters had to deal with for years on end." https://mobile.twitter.com/...
Very true...however I think we can agree that MS has brought this on themselves. I mean we are expected to pay more for less but with the PS3 it was a higher price because it had blu ray, something which was really expensive at the time. Now looking back I wish I hadn't called Sony with the high price point, it's not as bad as what MS is doing. People even blew Kaz's comments out of proportion when he only said it's so good you WOULD get two jobs to buy one, not you need to.
@Mr_Nuts "People even blew Kaz's comments out of proportion when he only said it's so good you WOULD get two jobs to buy one, not you need to." NO ONE at Sony ever said that. It was those idiots at Joystiq that caused the whole mess. http://www.joystiq.com/2005...
Clearly just the title shows only someone with a Playstation tattoo would come with a title like this....
I was right look who posted this http://n4g.com/user/comment...
I think what it means is it allows more flexibility. Like they may be able to dedicate some gpu/cpu tasks to do the others job. And the RAM can be allocated to any area they want it to be to run a game. This is true, and it's the big advantage of console optimization.
I don't really think Sony needs to or has the funds to pay people to post negative articles. But for years MS has been doing that, from articles on their own magazine to the internet. In fact, one of the reasons I chose PS3 over xbox was the bias I saw in articles that I felt MS's hand was involved. But honestly, today, Sony doesn't even need to pay anyone, I would do it for them for free because of everything Microsoft has tried to do to this point since the "reveal". I'm very suspicious of Microsoft at this point and I think I'm not alone.
for really? I thought it was for the Living room. Then I thought it was for the gamers. Now it's for small businesses to video chat? Microsoft is just throwing everything at the wall and hope something sticks. 1 billion in games my butt. They could have invested that in some first party studios or indies. But they think gamers only want shooters and Minecraft.
Not the laser focused message, you would like to present, at a launch.
PS3 thought it was for gamers, then it was a super computer, then it could do "everything"... Look these companies are pitching these devices to as wide an audience as they can... PS4 certainly is more gamer focused from a Sony pitch right now but that will broaden and change too. Sony just years back was pitching like mad to use your PS3 to watch 3D movies on Blu Ray. If these devices can legitimately serve another purpose beyond gaming ...why is it such a bad thing that the companies would position it that way to those groups? Video conferencing as it stands is growing... many smaller businesses use their lap tops in conference rooms now and what you get are people trying to huddle into the camera view. Kinect for video conferencing even as it is today is quite good. Its got a wide view of a room and the picture (currently is good) will be very good with Kinect 2.0. A $500 expense to get a good system for video conferencing is not out of the ball park for a small business. Are we going to see major ad campaigns promoting Xbox One for small business...I highly doubt it. Can it be part of a MS pitch to small business on ways to do things differently? Absolutely.
I agree with you, but the issue is that MS has been a mess with PS. Right now there is no solid message from THEM. You seem to support them, so you are not the problem for them. Their issue is branding to customers that are on the fence and new customers. All companies would like to reach into different areas. PS3 correctly branded, then re-branded for a reason. Sony was betting on Blu-ray from day one. They HAD to get that message out. When it was clear that the war was won on that front, they focused on the "everything" approach because by then Xbox 360 had penetrated into mass market. They couldn't say we have game too. So, they marketed their OTHER features that hadn't been focused on. The Xbox One has yet to see the light of day and the focus has been lacking...in terms of messaging. I don't see them marketing Xbox for business in campaigns, but they need to get a clear concise message for where it is going...and soon.
Haha. And this coming from a guy with a kratos picture who has one of the most repetitive games on sony's exclusive roster. Combo, run, climb, turn pedestal, climb, boss, new weapon, wash, rinse, repeat.
HOW DARE YOU!
Desperate? X1 is sold out at GameStop, so it's perfectly reasonable to branch out to other stores as well. This fanboy garbage is appalling and I have next to no respect to gaming journalism right now. I'm waiting until they both come out now because I can't stand this constant shit-sling-fest.
Its not hard to sell out of 3 units.
Did they sell out though? Link if you can please.
According to anybody working at gamestop the allotment of pre-orders for PS4 vs Xbox One was in the tune of 4 to 1 or similar. I would hope Xbox One could sell 10 consoles for every 40 PS4's sold.
Microsoft can't sneeze without this site spinning it as bad news. Only stupidity can drive this type of news.
Microsoft's stupidity started it, and it's driving these continued articles. Tell me, were you as adamant about people giving Sony a chance with the PS3? Or were you completely silent? Or were you, perhaps, one of the many that attacked Sony the way you feel people are now attacking Microsoft?
I didn't get a PS3 until 2009. So I wasn't into Sony or Microsoft consoles so I wasn't here or anywhere during the beginning of last generation. I was a Nintendo person. Also I am sure you can agree that some of these articles are clearly either stupid or sad. Sure MS had a bad communication problem I can agree but to claim this generation is over before it started??? That is something I will not do especially when I prefer the One games to the PS4
I loved all systems BEFORE Microsoft unleashed their Xbone...but now? Sorry, they started it, people are totally justified to be disgusted by them. Sorry Microsoft defenders y'all desperately wrong, stop trying to feel sorry for a bunch of misguided businessmen. You guys are trying to blame the fail on everything EXCEPT Microsoft...dudes you're all in the wrong...THEY DO NOT GIVE A S^IT ABOUT YOU OR GAMING! They wanted to forcefeed us BS, we didn't want the future to be like this. I and 'apparently' more people didn't agree (you guys try to deny what is happening in the gaming world, it is not just on N4G...IT IS EVERYWHERE!) It is pretty hard to forget that they even tried to F us in the 1st place. Besides the turd is too expensive and the F'ing mandatory Kinect is for suckers and bound to be a fad.
@Hicken, "Microsoft's stupidity started it, and it's driving these continued articles." The real question is who approves of these articles? On the websites front page it talks about 'Motorcycle Safety Bill Used To Sneak In North Carolina Abortion Laws'. If this topic was about the PS4 you would vote it down immediately and tell everyone to ignore it. I've never even heard of this site and this topic is really nothing but suggesting the Xbox One could be used for video conferencing. "Tell me, were you as adamant about people giving Sony a chance with the PS3? Or were you completely silent?" What does that have to do with anything other than you admitting carrying baggage for years and being vengeful for all the negativity the PS3 got early on? Is this what this site has turned into, a bunch of Playstation fans who are full of spite?
Site doing poorly. Desperate for some hits, are we?
Maria your making yourself look really desperate dude.
