Game Addiction: Playing Video Games to Death

Video game addiction. We love it. We hate it. It brings about big questions. What is it about that feeling of knowing there’s a new and exciting videogame waiting for us home that helps us through those hard days at school or work?

At what point does that impossible-to-satisfying hunger for “just one more game” start to inhibit productivity of our everyday lives, spilling over into RL and manifesting as elaborate excuses to stay at home? How have videogame developers got so good at creating masterpieces of this immersive medium that are so good, our desire to indulge in them becomes even more important than life itself?
