The study was conducted by Jane Barnett, of Middlesex University in the UK. She and her colleagues recruited 292 male and female World of Warcraft players, ages ranging from 12 to 83. They were given a questionnaire about anger, aggression, and personality, and then played World of Warcraft for two hours. After the two hours were completed, they were asked to take the questionnaire a second time.
"There were actually higher levels of relaxation before and after playing the game as opposed to experiencing anger but this did very much depend on personality type," Barnett said.
