Top 5 Wii U Games still to come in 2013

The Wii U has been unsurprisingly weak since it was released back in November, but a promising second half of 2013 could turn things around for Nintendo. Here are my top 5 Wii U games for the rest of year.

The Wonderful 101 is a game that I will most certainly purchase. Wasn't feeling it in the beginning, but after a while of watching some videos I definitely want to pick the title up.

Same here, wasn't feeling it when it was first shown but after the E3 footage it's definitely a buy for me now.

I admit that I had buyer remorse when I first bought the Wii u, but this holiday season games + the amazing 2014 lineup really justifies my purchase.

My number one game for the Wii U in 2014

Let me guess:

Wonderful 101, Pikmin 3, Wind Waker HD, Donkey Kong and Mario 3D World.

Now I'll check the article.

Just checked it. Yeah, exactly those games. Lol.

Shows that they're, indeed, the best Wii U games to look forward to for the remainder of this year. :P

Commercially yes, there are some downloadable games I'm personally looking forward to that may or may not be out this year. But yes, as far as game discs go, that's pretty much the list of the best games this year.

Kind of a bummer they could not have gotten Star Fox or a 3D Pokemon. You know, SOMETHING unconventional and at least a little risque.

Realplaya3943d ago

The only thing wrong is he says 101 plays like Pikmen but it actually doesn't.

deafdani3943d ago (Edited 3943d ago )

@Realplaya

It's somewhat accurate to compare it to Pikmin, because they're sort of the same type of game. He's not saying it's exactly the same, but I can see the similarities. They're both kind of RTS games, after all. Only that Wonderful 101 seems more actiony than Pikmin.

@PopRocks

I agree, there's definitely some other games for Wii U worth checking out besides those listed. Personally, I know I'm getting Watch Dogs, and a few indie gems.

I don't think we'll ever see a fully featured 3D AAA Pokémon game on a Nintendo home console, personally. Pokémon is one of the biggest draws for Nintendo handhelds, and I suspect Nintendo wants it to stay that way. You take out a bit of the appeal of a series for handheld consoles if said series is also available in bigger and better format for home consoles (personally, I think that's one of the reasons Uncharted: Golden Abyss has been underappreciated, just because it isn't exactly the same as its bigger console counterparts).

Oh, and Star Fox... damn, dude, that's probably my favorite Nintendo franchise, along with the main 3D Mario games. I've been in love with Fox and company ever since I played the first one on SNES. I've played and completed all of the Star Fox games, except for the DS one, which I couldn't finish because I hated its controls.

Heck, I'm one of the few people that actually loved the Gamecube entries to death (yes, I loved Assault, deal with it!).

You have no idea how much it pained me to see this series skip the Wii altogether, I was looking forward so much to play a new one. :(

It's been more than 6 years since the last Star Fox home console entry, Nintendo. You better make a new one for Wii U, OR ELSE!!!!

;_;

Still waiting on F-Zero, Star Fox and Metroid...but the Wii U is finally starting to release some great AAA software. Really looking forward to MK8 next year ;)

Also, a new Battallion Wars would be just great. Now that's a series that can put the Gamepad to awesome use.

Looking Ahead: The Lingering Questions About the Next Mario Kart

VGChartz's Mark Nielsen: "10 years. It’s been almost 10 years since the last mainline release in the Mario Kart series. Mario Kart 8 came out for the Wii U in 2014 and became the best-selling game for the system by a sizeable margin, and later pulled the same magic trick on the Nintendo Switch under the stage name Deluxe. All in all, it's sold nearly 70 million copies over the last decade and is still selling like hot cakes to this day, so it’s no wonder Nintendo has been in no rush to replace it. However, with rumors of a new system being just around the corner, and reports a few years back that a new Mario Kart is indeed under way, it seems the era of 8 might very well be drawing to a close. It’s an exciting prospect to be sure, but after two Nintendo systems with Mario Kart 8 at their heart, a lot of questions remain about how Nintendo will choose to follow it up."

I hope they just keep building on Mario Kart 8; Add a track-creation tool, and probably open it up to more Nintendo IPs with new tracks and characters, so Metroid, Punch Out, Starfox, Animal Crossing, etc etc.

there wont be a new one until the switch 2 comes out.

nintendo needs their bangers early on
