Was A League Of Legends Player Arrested For Trolling? Not Exactly

We've recieved numerous tips about the story of 19-year-old Justin Carter, a person who has been charged with making "terroristic threats." Some are circulating information that Carter made these threatening statements during or immediately after a League of Legends match. In truth, whether or not he was playing League of Legends has nothing to do with the matter.

Whether on league of legends or facebook, what he said was out of hand, but being charged for a third degree felony is an over reaction. I'd understand if he had a history of violence or something, but still, we should then need to be in the hand of a therapists, people who can really help him if he really was f'd in the head, andnot the police.

so what if i said the exact same thing on purpose am i going to need a therapist? likely not since i was controlling what i said.

"I'd understand if he had a history of violence or something, but still, we should then need to be in the hand of a therapists,"

I never said he would need one because of this one incident, I meant he would need one if he had a history of violence.

DarkBlood3948d ago

right, makes sense i suppose a "crazy" person for the lack of a better term would more likely to commit to something serious then a rational person

just seems like that is getting thrown around alot pretty soon everyone could be a threat to each other if they let it get to thier head that seriously.

zeal0us3948d ago

I'm pretty sure if the incident at Newton and Colorado theatre shooting never happen it would've been just another LoL game and this would've not been news.

Ever since those incidents happen it seem people are taking threats of killing someone overboard but I guess its better safe than sorry.

He is an idiot for saying something that provocative specially since the shootings haven't been that long ago.

Timesplitter143948d ago (Edited 3948d ago )

But it takes a much bigger idiot to put that kid in jail for something so obviously not serious. It seems they put him in jail just because they could, and not because it was actually justified.

People make that kind of joke all the time. People make dead baby jokes. The whole point of these jokes is to say the worst thing possible.

This is just another case of old conservative people still living in the middle ages and not understanding this modern, free society we have today

metaltales493948d ago

this kid was stupid for saying that joking or not.what the hell went though his mind to make him think saying i'm going to shoot up a kindergarten and eat a beating heart was a good idea.

UNGR3948d ago

This is a heinous crime against human rights, and the first amendment. Every police officer involved should spend the next 8 years in jail instead for violating the constitution.

sfalexl213948d ago

This is a crime against human rights, so lets violate all of these officers' human rights by imprisoning all of them. Im glad you have everyone's rights in mind....

UNGR3948d ago

If you think the constitution is here for nothing then you should have no rights. They broke a few laws, they've already earned jail time. But the American government being the American government will probably just let this all sit quietly under the rug, completely dismiss the fact that somebody is being illegally detained, and not even for a good reason at that.
