D4: Xbox One’s Most Enigmatic Exclusive

One of the most enigmatic Xbox One exclusives announced to date would have to be D4, or Dark Dreams Don’t Die, to give the game its full title. In development by cult Japanese game designer Hidetaka “Swery” Suehiro and his team at Access Games, D4 is a murder mystery with an intriguing hook: its detective lead David has lost his memory, but is able to dive into the past to solve crimes. Specifically, his wife’s murder.

I think this game is going to be a real treat! Love the way it looks and the story seems interesting.

Yeah this is how I always imagined Kinect to work with core games. Games like Heavy Rain etc would work brilliantly with it. Imagine solving a murder mystery, wiping the dust off a windshield with your hands etc.

QTEs usually serve to loosely allow players to do things they simply can't because of the simplistic nature of normal controllers with their buttons and analogue sticks. Kinect type interactions would be far better imo because they could enhance the immersion in these scenes by making players carry out the motions.

Look at the Last of Us for example. There are bits where you have to mash a button to open a gate or pull a lever for instance. So with Kinect you can mimic actually pulling the lever whilst I dunno, ushering Ellie through with your other hand, kinda holding her head if you know what I mean?

This game looks really interesting though. Reminds me of Memento.

This looks much more interesting than things like Forza and Titanfall. While I'll enjoy those games, I love something a little offbeat like this.

Xbox one really has a very diverse line up of games coming out during the launch window. Seems there is something for everyone. Mighty impressed so far.
