Everyone loves Portal for it’s fun combination of puzzles, cake and a computer that’s hell-bent on taking over the world. Portal popularised the first-person puzzle genre and Valve made sure they made a damn good job of it. Obviously the developers of Magrunner:Dark Pulse decided they’d take the tried and tested formula, add an extra hint of Cthulu and creepyness and change the gameplay mechanic to something a little more possible in this universe. The result is surprisingly good.
"As part of their Summer Sale, Good Old Games is giving away free copies of the first-person puzzle game Magrunner: Dark Pulse. You better hurry though because the offer is only available for 24 hours. "
The Cthulhu Mythos is easily one of the most recognizable pieces of writing in gaming and Magrunner: Dark Pulse is a fresh new take on an iconic story. If you love puzzles and a taste of the terrifying check out Magrunner: Dark Pulse.
Bad is a relative term, and atmospheric first-person puzzle games are like pizza; even when they’re bad, they’re still good. On its own, Magrunner: Dark Pulse is full of brain-bending puzzles and interesting story elements. Pit it against charmers like Quantum Conundrum and the genre-standard Portal, however, and you’ll start to notice its overwrought storyline and gaps in logic.
