Ubisoft talks and demonstrates Rocksmith 2014 Edition

Some might say that the music game genre is dead, but don't tell that to Ubisoft. After all, they've been hard at work creating Rocksmith 2014 Edition, the first official sequel to its 2011 guitar game Rocksmith.

Unlike games like Guitar Hero and Rock Band, Rocksmith uses an actual electric guitar and is designed to teach the player how to play the instrument. Roughly nine months after its release, Ubisoft added bass guitar to the game via an expansion. This time around, both guitar and bass return, though Creative Director Paul Cross says the game is brand new from the ground up.

Love this franchise. I actually improved due to the first game. Totally worth the cost.

Our copy's made its way around the office for that very reason.

I've been thinking of buying Rocksmith, I've never picked up a guitar but it's something I've been wanting to learn forever. Do you think this can teach a total newb to play?

ThatArtGuy3949d ago

@Testfire Yes, it'll definitely teach you how to play. I would, however, supplement the game with some musical theory so you'll know WHY you're playing it that way.

Looking forward to this. Rocksmith had so many uses... You didn't even have to play the game if you didn't want to, you could just go into the amp mode and just start jamming. The amp modeling was surprisingly good.

Before I didn't pay attention to Rocksmith. Now I am. Not that it affected my purchase decision before but now that they included bass right out of the box, I'm definitely going to check this out. Always wanted to play bass guitar and this seems like a good way to start. Cause sometimes I just want to chill with my super buds and groove out to some bass.

I wonder what happened to that official DJ game as well...not the arcadey DJ Hero either.

EDIT: I hope they include Slither by Velvet Revolver as a download. Slash's guitar riff is sick and I wanna learn how to play it.
