Pictures of the Contents of the PS4 Box and of the Bundled Headset Appear

We already know that the box of the PS4 will include the console, the DualShock 4, a HDMI cable, an headset, a power cord, an USB cord and the instructions. What we didn't yet know is how some of those components will look.

The picture is confirmed as legit (I wouldn't yet say "official", as it didn't appear on any Sony website), as it appeared on the Amazon UK product listing.

Update 2: added picture of the headset plugged into the DualShock 4

I see this and I get excited.

I think Sony fully intends to mimic the success of the PS2. Look at that PS4, that's the PS2 Sequel! Looks very similar.

Abriael1993d ago

Am I weird for finding that instruction booklet damn sleek?

PerryCaravello1993d ago

I'm loving the blue. Microsft's "goolish green" is finally looking dated. Worked during the "X1" era.... but now it's played out and grotesque.

gamer421993d ago

Nope, that instruction booklet is the finest instruction booklet I have ever seen, but seriously the PS4 looks like amazing so far! I can't wait for launch!

zeee1993d ago

Good thing they are boxing HDMI cables now. I still have my original black piano PS3 but the last I remember, they were still boxing it with the Component Cables back then. Not sure if newer PS3 models come with HDMI?

Yes, i agree. It looks like Sony's out for blood. They are doing everything right so far. PS2 success in today's world is kind difficult especially MS spending billions in marketing and time exclusive games/dlc but PS4 will do great no doubt about it.

lawgone1993d ago

@Abriael, for a folded quick start guide? Yes, a little bit.

Abriael1993d ago

@lawgone: oh well, normality is overrated nowadays

Roper3161993d ago

@ perry

The only reason MS went with green because it's the color of the money which is the only thing they care about.

abzdine1993d ago

release date is close my friends!

Abriael1993d ago

@Need4Game: that was already known for a while, yeah.

CrimsonStar1993d ago

Holy crap ! That's an instruction booklet?

crxss1993d ago

IT COMES WITH THE VERTICAL STAND?! would be awesome if true

Razmossis1993d ago

I fear that headset will create a very noisy PSN environment. Really need something a bit more 'professional'

SniperControl1993d ago

They weren't giving component cables (5 cables), they were giving composite (3 cables) cables out. Totally mental for a HDMI enabled device.

3-4-51993d ago

No...It's the first thing I noticed. I grew up playing games where, when I got a new game, I would open the box and not play the game until I'd read every page in the manual.

There was always good interesting stuff in them and that just kind of died off.

I'd spend 20 minutes reading through before playing a

miyamoto1993d ago (Edited 1993d ago )

PS4 never looked so good!

I surely can not resist this baby!

Can't wait to hold that controller!

The controller curves really goes well with the console's straight lines.

Super Sleek Sexiness Perfection!

President1993d ago

You see that Microsoft? No power brick!

Solence1993d ago

Xbox 1 is going to win the next gen console, they already won with pre orders.

The genius Don Mattrick is going to prove all haters wrong.

insomnium21992d ago

I think you have a bit of nostalgia going on there. I too used to read the manuals of all the games thoroughly in the Nes, MD and SNES-era but nowadays I don't bother. The swich to the manual we have now (pretty much nonexistant when compared) doesn't bother me at all.

If it's NOT nostalgia for you however it's too bad. I don't need them but I do understand both ways.

3-4-51992d ago

@ inso- yea nostalgia kicks in a bit. lol, but also I actually enjoy reading. I could read for hours as long as it's something I'm interested in, so a game I like falls into that category.

They were also pieces of art to me too kind of. Also there was good information, background info on characters, tips, background story overall, pictures and other art that may or may not have made the game.

They aren't a need, more of a want, but there are still millions of us out there that would appreciate them still. I guess you could say there is still a market for manuals....but I'd never pay more for one.

Sayai jin1993d ago

@PerryCaravello - The industry has changed a lot since the PS2 Hay days. The PS4 will undoubtedly be a huge success, but owning 70 plus % of the market. Highly unlikely.

Divine1993d ago

those cords look pretty long

BitbyDeath1993d ago (Edited 1993d ago )

Anyone know what the plug (on the controller) next to the headphone input is for?

KwietStorm1993d ago

One of those extension ports. They could use it for basically anything from a chatpad to a more high end headset.

BitbyDeath1993d ago

Thanks have a helpful bub

RavageX1993d ago

It's for an upcoming feature.

I probably shouldn't talk about it but...

Well, you've seen The Matrix right? You know how they "jack" into the Matrix itself?'ll be jacking into all sorts of games soon.

Retroman1993d ago (Edited 1993d ago )

if SONY was even close mimicing ps2 success we would have more games than zombies, fps, multiplayer type games then. im not hating on ps4 but rather like to see more than those titles. i hardly turn on my ps3 tired of same titles over and over.killzone, unchrated, call of duty, socom, battlefield. if ps4 the incarnation of ps2 Sony!!!! please bring fun variety games back to everyone and not push old school gamers to the curb.
hardcore gamers not the only ones that buy games ya know.

KwietStorm1993d ago

PS2 didn't exactly have the most stellar launch lineup. PS4 isn't even close to being available, and it already looks A LOT better at release. The bombardment of Indie games should also quench your want for variety.

BitbyDeath1993d ago

PS4 has 20 inhouse exclusives releasing this year. Should have something for everyone. Failing that you got a ton of indie and 3rd party games to look forward to.

SweetIvy1993d ago

Have you played Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time? It's awesome ;)!
Also, check out on PSN, the Cave is nice!

Retroman1993d ago (Edited 1993d ago )

@ chickengamer

YES, i played sly, ratchet an clank trilogy, nfs Hotpursuit criterion (version) Rayman legend,GT5,Castlevania lord of the shadow,Marvel vs, Capcom 3,Super street fighter iv,Jax & Daxter collection,Ratchet an clank collection not much else. now if Sony make of ps1 era games specially R-TYPE,GRADIUS,EINHANDER,CONTR A i'll be happy camper.

nnodley1993d ago

Hate to break it to you but Sony has had way more games than just killzone, uncharted, call of duty, socom, and battlefield. They clearly had the most variety than MS too. Guess if you don't like any of the other Sony exclusive games or third party games then that sucks for you and I don't know what to tell you.

Heisenburger1993d ago

I had to stop reading at "mimicing".

MajorLazer1993d ago

I don't think the PS2 era will ever be replicated :( 10,000+ games released on one console 0_o

can we use our pulse headsets with ps4 since ps4 does have bluetooth?

JW10801993d ago

I want to know the same. I have the first one they released. The 5.1 one. I want to say I'm 99% positive they will work with the PS4. The move and navigation controllers will work as well. Dualshock 3 and the old Playstation eye camera will not work with the PS4. Hope that helped.

KwietStorm1993d ago

I've been wanting to know the same. The only info I can give you is a Sony exec on the official PlayStation message forum leaning towards yes (sorry I don't have the link), and Amazon listing the headset under PS4 accessories. Obviously not confirmation, but I'm hopeful.

lento1993d ago

Even The instruction booklet looks cool too! "welcome to the world of playstation" can't wait!

Narutone661993d ago

Sony is well known for their design, even Apple tried to copy Sony's design. So, not surprising that PS4 has a nice design.

wastedcells1993d ago (Edited 1993d ago )

Can't wait!

MWong1993d ago (Edited 1993d ago )

I cannot wait to get my hands on this console. It reminds me so much of the PS2 just with sexier lines ... I am really loving the DS4 also.

The first comments on that page summed it up for a lot of people "i am an xbox guy all the way but atleast sony is putting out information, details etc(know this was leaked) but MS is basically silent on everything which isnt good when the competition is throwing one two punches everyday. kudos to sony. "

xtremeimport1993d ago

too bad that stand isn't bundled.

MWong1992d ago

The design looks like you can put it on it's side easily, so you don't even need a stand. I am really happy I can use my old Turtlebeach headset with the new console.

colonel1791993d ago

I am excited too. It can't come soon enough!.

I just don't like how the light of the front fades on the right. The whole "line" should turn blue. it looks bad the way it is now, it looks as if something is wrong with the light.

FamilyGuy1993d ago

I like how the PS4 is slimmer than the Xbox One and still doesn't have a power brick.

N2NOther1992d ago

The only problem is that a HUGE part of the PS2's success was they DVD player. At the time the format was relatively new and I know for a lot of people it was their first DVD player. Bluray hasn't had the same impact and now with digital becoming an ever growing alternative, I don't think Bluray will ever reach that level of install base.

I do think that PS4 is going to be hugely successful, though. Just not PS2 successful.

Gardenia1992d ago

A Vita bundle would be great

Sony is well ahead with production it seems...that FoxConn speed.

Lockhart1993d ago

In what way does a picture of the console along with the controller and a few leads suggest that they are ahead of production?

Arai1993d ago (Edited 1993d ago )

If they weren't this type of material wouldn't be out there already.
Not to mention all the actual hardware at E3, packaging is finalized also.

You should take a look at FoxConn, the same company outputs 8m Iphones in a week.
Not to mention all the pre-orders Sony is allowing around the world, I think it's safe to assume that their production is going well.

Nevermind, looking at your replies I can see that you're a troll.

Roper3161993d ago

not so much the picture but Sony told places that can take as many preorders as they like which is why all kinds of PS4 bundles showed up at places like Amazon. That would leave me to believe that they will have more units available at launch than they initially thought

Lockhart1993d ago

But this article is claiming it's leaked.. so technically this doesn't mean that it is "out yet". I don't see how a picture of the console (which we've seen before), along with a few leads, implies that they are ahead of production.

They have months to work on production for launch, so it's pretty obvious that they would allow tons of preorders. It's just smart business.

Blankolf1993d ago

It's not leaked, it has been confirmed as official good sir.

Deividas1993d ago

You sir, are a dumbass. Signed in just to tell you that :)

JetsFool35001993d ago

Who PreOrders A Console Just To Get It Later On? If Sony Is Allowing Alot Of Preorders Thats Means They Are Definitely Ahead Of Schedule In Production

Akuma2K1993d ago

It sure seems that way, but if its true we just might see an earlier launch plan from sony.....a win win for us gamers.

HD_GAMER19891993d ago (Edited 1993d ago )

judging by the insanely huge demand for day 1 preorders that early launch window might not be possible it seems like releasing at the same time as xbox one might provide a greater launch day stock to compete with xbox one; however i have a feeling ps4 releasing on or before black friday might benefit them more.whatever sony decides im sure will keep liver punching the xbox one sony is pissed at this gen 1 year behind fiasco.

also i may note that im starting to wonder if im the only one that has this strong feeling that ms is completely setting them selves up for a disastrous launch this november.

Anybody else on here have the same feeling?

MajorLazer1993d ago

I have fears the demand will be veeery high meaning a lot of people may not be able to get one at launch. I hope i'm not one of them

C-Thunder1992d ago

As long as they can keep their employees from jumping off the roof, Foxconn is quick.

such a good looking beast. hey what do you know, that's an oxymoron.

also just a quick question folks. can i insert headphones into the DS4 and listen to in-game sound or is it just for chat headsets?

edit: cheers for the reply below.

Clover9041993d ago

Not sure, but it's a mono earbud so if you can listen to in-game audio, it's not going to sound that great. The good news is that, unlike XBoxOne proprietary audio jack, PS4 will work with just about any headset you may currently have.

sAVAge_bEaST1993d ago (Edited 1993d ago )

Yes, 3.5mm is standard, from iphone's, to walkmen's .. Micro$oft is greedy enough to have proprietary, sad.

Jaqen_Hghar1993d ago

A man is going to use his Pulse Wireless headset on PS4 and it will be glorious. It already scared the crap out of a man playing LoU with its virtual surround sound.

1993d ago
Polysix1993d ago

It will be for other human comms only just like 360's headset. You wont get the game's soundtrack and gunfire etc coming through that tiny little thing!

It's a comms device hence ONE earbud and a mic.

For me I 9/10 play games with headphones so hope my normal cans can slip over this ok so I can use both at the same time.
