There are no "hardcore" exclusives, only things that would appeal to children. Until this console gets better exclusives and stops relying on franchises decades old then it's my personal opinion that it isn't going to sell very well.

What I'm saying is that the exclusives don't have much variety.

well that's why it is called your opinion.

Mario, while kiddish in nature, is in no ways just a kids game. I want you to go ask how many 10 year olds can 100% Super Mario Sunshine or Mario Galaxy. It's not an easy thing to do.

And games like Mario are exactly what this console needs. Mario Kart sold over 30 million copies on the Wii, almost 3 times more than the highest selling titles on PS3 or X360.

1st party titles is exactly what this console needs.

There are some big 3rd party titles coming, and while not exclusives, I will still be supporting them on the Wii U.

That being said, I would still love to see Nintendo branch out and create a new IP or two. As much as I love Mario, Zelda and Donkey Kong, I would still love to see something completely fresh from the Nintendo camp.

just because it's colorful, it doesn't mean it's for kids only...

even i, an adult, find a game like COD easier to complete, compare to getting 100% on Super Mario Galaxy or even Super Mario 3D Land.

My problem isn't the colour. It is my opinion that these games are some at children due to the characters (they have strange voices) and the goals of the games (just collecting stars).

I think part of it comes from the generation of consoles you grew up with. Personally I've been gaming since the late 70s early 80s when games didn't have the opportunity to be particularly realistic or visceral, they had to be, first and foremost, fun.

To a large extent this is still what I'm looking for in games today. No need to study gameplay mechanics or learn how to tune a car or strip an AK47... But just run around and enjoy the game for what it is.

That's not to say I don't enjoy the occasional hardcore game but I have little time for the mainstream AAA bro-fighters. To say the Nintendo line-up only appeals to children though is inaccurate, there's a lot of us who just want our games to be nice, simplistic, fun and nobody does that better than Nintendo.

You're probably right. The first console I experienced was the PS1 with MGS & Tomb Raider etc...

Mario was always a hardcore game on snes and new super mario bros and mariokart are hardcore titles always have been and their not kiddie one bit,throwing banana skins and shells in peoples faces,and the graphics are stylized m8 kiddie graphics are skylanders ect mariokart has always been a hardcore multiplayer game,i played MK64 battle mode growing up and its not kiddie.

Basically if its competitive MP its hardcore just like Streetfighter snes that was the other hardcore title i played growing up,MK64 battle mode and Streetfighter snes were the most competitive MP games growing up,Sonic is kiddie ie no competitiveness.

People get mixed up with Hardcore and Mature.

Mature=Dark themes,voilence,blood.
