With the next generation of gaming consoles right around the corner, I’ve been thinking a lot about both the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 game libraries. There have been countless great titles released for both systems that have made owning either (or both) consoles a gamer’s blessing. Among all of the great games, RPGs – my genre of choice – have seen some great entries hit store shelves. In the list below, I will take a look at my top ten choices for the best Role Playing Games of the last genre.
IGN : How does the new The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered, released in 2025 for Xbox Game Pass, Xbox Series X|S, Windows PC, Steam, and PS5, compare to the original 2006 Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion released on Xbox 360, played via Xbox Series X/S Backwards Compatibility?
Rebellion's Atomfall is finally out! But what happens if you can't get your hands on it yet? Luckily, here are the top 8 games like Atomfall.
Kinda reminds me of miasmata also with how the navigation works. Not to miasmata's extent but definitely in the same vein
The PlayStation 3 is Sony’s most interesting home console ever, but what’s most interesting of all is trying to nail down the very best games on a console with hundreds of incredible games. Let’s give it a shot.
Sly Thieves in Time
Stay the Party
Portal 2
Dj Hero
Demon’s Souls
God of war Ascension
I've noticed a recent nostalgia for the PS3 and I don't get it for me it's been my least favourite generation to date and I've been gaming since the NES I just feel like the ambition of the developers outweighed the capabilities of the consoles so I remember lots of games running in the lower end of 20fps range and I remember for the first time ever actually disliking the duelshock 3 and it's curved triggers
Sure there were some standouts and great games but that's the only gen I switched entirely to PC gaming
I find the lack of Lost Odyssey on this list disturbing.
Dark Souls is in its rightful spot on the list. Easily the most fun I have had out of an RPG this gen. Picked up Ni No Kuni recently. I hope that I am not disappointed, but I doubt I will be.
Lost Odyssey, Xenoblade Chronicles, Eternal Sonata (forget the ending) and Tales of Vesperia deserves a space.
Nier was unique, I loved the characters, the music and the endings but unfortunately the visuals and gameplay were unimpressive.
As a few people have mentioned, I'd have definitely put Lost Odyssey in this list. Fantastic game.
Good to see Dragon Age in this list - I'd have put this even higher - one of the best new RPG series I've played in a very long time.
