Emperor Blue Monkey @EpicDome:"I was happy to catch some inspiration from some of the readers of part one of this article. After my first list of fighting games deserving a next gen release, I felt more or less obligated to continue the frenzy..."
I would kill for 1&3.
The Last Blade
Some of those are beat em ups, and not fighting games.
My personal favorite was Primal Rage (SNES). https://www.youtube.com/wat...
My personal choice for a modern, big-budget reboot would be Bushido Blade (1997, Square). I would love to see a well-made 3D weapon-based fighting game that uses a realistic injury model instead of a health bar. Instead of hacking away at each other like unfeeling, wooden mannequins, such a game would depict the effects of pain, blood loss, broken bones, and major trauma to organs and bodily tissues. I am tired of fighting games where the combatants fight just as competently with a sliver of their health bar left, as they did when they had full health at the beginning of the match. It would also be fun to have large, and varied, environments to fight in (like Bushido Blade had), and have terrain features actually influence the fight. If Square Enix has no interest in making a modern version of this great game, I hope that some other game developer will make something in the same vein. There has to be somebody working in the game industry that is excited about this kind of game play.
I always wondered what happened to the battle arena series.it was one of the first fighters I played on ps1..
