An In-Depth Chat With The Genius Behind Super Smash Bros.

Kotaku - Masahiro Sakurai is in pain. The creator of Super Smash Bros. suffers from calcific tendonitis in his right shoulder, and it shows: Sakurai often holds his arms as he talks, and he says he can't use a regular mouse anymore. It hurts too much.

woW!

Sakurai; "On the 3DS version there'll be a certain degree of character customization. You can have your own personalized character that you'll then be able to take over and move onto the Wii U version and play".

Does this mean that if I chose falco I will be able to pick between different bLasters? like do i equip the blue stalling blaster shots, or the Red faster non stalling blaster like foxes gun?

Or maybe we can now chose to use Ganons sword < making him slower?

Customize link to use his different types of arrows, fire arrow, light arrow, ice arrow, Goron sword etc?

Is that why Megaman has so many moves shown at E3 trailer?

Or is this customize like that Teken game that came out for wiiU where we can customize characters draw on them paint on them etc? hope not (:

Please let it be you can make your own characters.

That would be the greatest thing to ever be in a video game ever!

But not if they're restricted to a certain mode. Then it would be almost pointless.

It's been done in a lot of fighting games already. I seem to remember Sakurai even talked about wanting to implement it in Brawl but running out of time or something.

I think it means that:

* You can choose to have more blaster power, at cost of something else.

or

* You can choose which way your kick hits them...up, down,, left right, diagonal.

* Which way your recovery goes, is it quick and also a good move, or is it just recovery.

This would make a character like mario play in 5-20 different ways depending on who's version it was and what they have done with the move set.

* Maybe you can increase punch power but it decreases your jumping range or be able to take more hits, but you have overall weaker attacks.

* Also the ability to map which moves go to which buttons as well.

There will be tons of possibilities and it will make these versions the best in terms of replay value.

5-6 years from now, people will still be coming up with useful customizations.

This will also let the harcore group of players tinker with different builds and what not.

I'm hoping for as much customization as possible.

Here's my question.

When's the friggin official site gonna update?

PerryCaravello4380d ago (Edited 4380d ago )

Is he really a genius. He's making games for a console that's being outsold by the wii and vita lol.

Idunno.

The man created Kirby and Smash Bros. His legendary status is confirmed even if he does nothing but junk for the rest of his career.

PerryCaravello4380d ago

If he's so legendary, then how come I don't know his name....

MIND = BLOWN

I'll take my response off air. Thank You.

Chidori4380d ago

Keep leaving ignorant comments like this and you'll be the first person to go back to one bubble before the new comment system is live.

kirbyu4380d ago

Yeah, because one guy not knowing your name instantly means you're no good.
