Since PSN/XBLA (consoles), Steam/Origin (PC) or IOs/Android content we can’t loan or resell, I don’t think many people are complaining that the X1 can’t play used games. Unfortunately I think the same is going to happen, if not now, then with future consoles from Sony and Nintendo. I just hope the EU forces (in the near future) digital platforms like Steam/PSN/XBLA to allow 2nd hand digital content sale. If I buy it, I can loan/resell it to whoever I want. If this happens that all this no used games crap will go away (i hope !!!).

What’s most bothering about the X1 is that you can’t play your games if you are offline… specifically from a device that’s made to play games. That’s one big mistake made by Microsoft.

You can play offline, but you need to perform the online check in once every 24 hours. This can be done with your wifi connection or with a cell if needed. The reason for this is your console can rip as many games to HDD as you like. If you could game offline only, nothing would prevent you from ripping all your friends games to it and then going offline and keeping them for free.

Here's an idea which rivals that of the One.

Enable the console's Blu ray drive to play the game directly off the disk. Problem solved and everyone wins. Instead, some will embrace the all digital/disk hybrid system.

You're defending the Xbone's awful aspects while completely dismissing the aspects of why they're awful.

Most of you are ignorant from what I have been reading. But I do agree with you, a simple solution would be to allow offline play with the disc in the drive. It seems like the best option unless there is a way to exploit it that I haven't seen yet.

5. xbox live costs money and if you are banned from xbox live even if falsley you loose access to all your xbl titles.

Crazy wanting to rip all your games to the HDD and use a 24 hour check to verify ownership instead of needing the disc to be in the drive. Nobody wants to be able to play their games without having to change the disc. Besides, it isway more fun to bring all your games with you where ever you go incase you decide to go to a friends house and play some of your games. Sharing online is stupid when you can drive to a friends house and loan him a game. Most people live right next door to each other anyway.

A lot of main stream media outlets have raised the issues of the xbox and presented polls asking which system most people plan to get and so far the results have been overwhelmingly in the ps4's favor.

I don't think people are hating just to hate - sure there are some who hate to hate for both PS and XB - the issues are the policies

First - Online check in - every 24hrs is the issue - I would not mind it as much if it were say weekly - daily is a little extreme for a gaming console - I understand why they went this direction - they just went too far (IMO)

Second - They, along with Sony said they will leave the entire used gaming up to the developers/publishers - great, problem here is that they made it easy for developers/publishers to block used gaming - they did not say they will enforce it - but they made it easier

Third - Kinect requirement - foremost, it is increasing the cost of the system, and some just don't want it. They say you can pause it, turn off the camera, etc but who knows

All of this could have been avoided - sorry, it really could have. They should have designed a Core version of the XB1 - without KINECT. Second, I understand their digital view and online, but really should have not made it 24hrs - weekly is fair. Third communicate the used gaming a little better and not made it soo easy for developers/publishers to control - If they had done this we would not have the issues because honestly the games shown at E3 were impressive, particularly when you consider how empty MS has been at E3 for the past 3 years

On Topic: I believe your issues with the Xbox one are legit, minus the second one I fault neither consoler(or both) for this since it will be the same on both. As for the Online Check in, I understand exactly why they are doing it and for that amount of time. A week would be way to much, one could easily beat a single player game within a week which would in turn destroy game retailers by them only selling those games for $30. Third point is dead on.

Sum up: First is understandable discontent towards but is necessary to allow disc-less gaming while allowing used games. Second point is moot as both will do it. Third...needing Kinect to play the console is BS and would have reduced the price.

I'm goin to say this it was the same with Sony. when it was on top everyone wanted it to fail and fall from that spot as soon as they started to slip we(consumers and fans) pulled the floor right from under it's feet. it was cool and socially exceptable to outwardly show distaste for X1 as they have said a few in some peoples eyes big cons for their console purchases. If XboxOne was just like PS4, they would both be like the 360. Don't you think someone should try to evolve gaming a little each gen? People kicked and screamed when the Xbox was broadband only. They also said Xbox was doomed since no one would pay for online. Xbox is still around and Sony ditched the 56k everyone wanted for broadband with the PS3 and now have paid online for the PS4.

Simply put, it is a result of not listening to your fanbase and core audience. Sony made similar mistakes with the launch of the PS3 with a high launch price similar to the Xbox One now, with an architecture completely foreign to developers, a less than stellar game launch lineup, and no rumble in the controller. And Sony's attitude to gamers and developers whom didn't like this was to essentially deal with it. And after voting with our wallets, we saw how the PS3 struggled its first few years. I personally didn't buy my first PS3 until 2 years into its lifecycle, when it came with a game (MGS4) and a Dualshock 3 included in the box. But look today how Sony came around, both with later versions of the PS3 and now the PS4. They are now in contrast reaping the benefits of listening to developers and gamers alike. Now its Microsoft's turn. All Microsoft has to do is announce similar used game support, lose the 24-hour connection check, lose the DRM game install requirement, lose the required Kinect (make it optional), bundle the Xbox One system with just a controller for $399 and majority of their problems are solved. They actually had a better E3 showing this year than the last few years, but I personally still favored Sony’s lineup. I'm really hoping Microsoft and Nintendo to step up there game inline with Sony as the game industry will only stay healthy with competition.
