Wouldn't mind a new L4D if it goes back to the dark, gritty atmosphere you had in the first game.

I would love for the original survivors to come back, like Zoe, Francis and Louis get to Florida only to discover their "safe haven" is actually far worse where they originally were, bringing in new more mutated infected and maybe a new survivor to replace Bill. I know they said L4D wasn't about story but having a better, longer single player with cinematics to push the original survivors story further would be better in my opinion, when people are playing online they could always disable the cutscenes.

I think HL3, L4D3 could be released with the Steambox at launch. Maybe TF3 aswell....that would be good

Lfd1 was so much better!
Looking forward to part 3!

I know, it was dark, gritty, had fantastic levels and the mood it set in the game was amazing. Not to mention the characters were better.

L4D2 seemed more comic like, bright day time levels, too much humor, not taking things seriously, average/horrible characters, light hearted. It seemed like a parody of L4D. I mean using a frying pan against these kinds of infected....a bloody tank for god sake

It's the only thing Valve has f***** up on in my opinion, something I'll never forgive them for. They told us to buy L4D, an unfinished, bug filled game because they would do a TF2 and update the crap out of it, 6 months later L4D2 was announced because they "couldn't fit into DLC" which is a load of bollocks, they just didn't want Turtle Rocks game to be the better game, they wanted a fully developed L4D game created by them.

They promised us DLC for the first one...we got one DLC, crash course which was really short and then exclusive DLC was added to L4D2 aswell......oh but it didn't stop there they wanted to kill L4D off for good so they decided to kill Bill off instead of Rochelle who no one liked and made it seem the original survivors got away.....aka, THE END.

I want them back, I don't care how I just want to see Zoe again and even Francis and Louis.

My favorite idea is that they just make The Sacrifice DLC, non cannon, like a what if scenario if the survivors went South instead of North where they were originally going.

So really if they did that, Bills alive and they will set L4D3 in Canada, some nice snow levels would be in the game aswell :)

The news will die here in its current state, while Valve reconfirm in Steam Forums that it was fake like everytime. I wonder if the company even exits anymore. /s

I know the games and the new engine exist bu they need to show them someday with SteamBox too. They missed great opportunities, but now they are very careful, it is a new engine and they don't the HL2 leak scenario to happen again if showed before being finsihed.

@ Mr. Nuts - You're STILL upset about L4D2? The game has been available on Steam for about $5 on multiple occasions, and it pretty much includes L4D1 in its entirety. It'd be unlikely that any of the previous characters would make a re-appearance.

L4D2 is like the Saints Row 2 of open-world crime sims. Not completely off the wall insane, but still fun because it doesn't take itself too seriously. There are enough gritty zombie games out there to last a lifetime.

Mr_Nuts4367d ago

@ jeeves86 - It's not the point, yes I'm still upset because Valve screwed up and treat people like crap during that time...they took us for granted. I couldn't care how cheap it is, what's done is done and they still killed L4D off like nobody liked it when in fact it was better.

L4D is a game that didn't take it's self seriously, L4D2 went overboard

Man, I say they should announce HL3 and L4D3 at a press conference announcing Source Engine 2, use HL3 and L4D3 to show off the new engine yuh know? and I don't think the "Steam Box" is ever going to happen, there's so much competition in the console world as it is, I don't think Valve see's any real profit in it.

Mr_Nuts4367d ago

Well Microsoft isn't have a good time at the minute and Valve see's things wrong with consoles that they think they can do better themselfs so I'd say they should go for it. With their games like Half Life, Portal, L4D, Counter Strike, Team Fotress, the modding community on their side like Garry's Mod for example they have some killer games.

They would then expand if successfull, more amazing IP's would be introduced while having third party support going for it.

I mean imagine if they could get Fallout 4 on consoles with mod support. Where console players could download PC mods or even extra maps in L4D people have created....theres one MASSIVE advantage they have over Sony/Microsoft/Nintendo.

Guys there's just one problem your not seeing here. A steam based system.... It's all DRM.

1886afc4367d ago

@alaghinghorse so.. my steam account can move to any computer or multiple computers. DRM is not a problem

karl4367d ago

i dont really know anything about a valve console
but i just dont see the point... steam dominates on PC...
i probably spend more money each year on steam than what i do for console games...

and they dont even need the complication of manufacture a console for me..

and yeah valve has many games but is it really going to be competing against themself? on the pc market?

i just see complications

I had VERY fond memories of HL2 until recently I decided to re-install it from my steam account and have a blast through the, I had to stop myself about 30 minutes in, sadly to me it's aged so much it feels terrible(this obviously all just opinion before you all decided to lob my head inn a noose!!!) as I was saying it feels terrible, the controls are just so rigid and un-natural,the game play is repetitive or boring, and with alot of proper classic games it seems filled with cliché,and not in a good tongue in cheek way.

I think Valve have screwed up massively by leaving such a huge gap, anyone who were to play episode 1 and 2 then go on to play HL3 is going to either find a massive continuity gap (if they update gamepley etc) or a very old feeling cliche of a game...

I have felt for a long time they have let us down anyway, the HL series deserved it's story telling and concluding a long time ago,now it's perhaps too late...

What if Gabe's brilliant masterplan is to launch the steambox along with Half-Life 3?

I'd still get it on PC since there's really no reason to get a steambox unless you don't have a good PC, but still. It would be a good plan

solar4367d ago

Gabe confirmed Source2 when the 4chan mates went to Valve HQ and gave him the Soldier hat, and we all know HL3 has been in development forever. L4D3? of course they are making that it has a huge following in both the vanilla/mod community. i mean jesh.
