Xbox One is for Real Gamers, and Some of You Just Aren’t

RealGamerNewz: I’m a gamer. I enjoy to play video games. I personally play Xbox 360 mainly and play offline, but I also have PlayStation 3 and have been enjoying some titles on it again recently including The Last of Us from Naughty Dog. I don’t indulge in multiplayer modes, I don’t sync trophies, and yet even still – even I know that Xbox ONE’s digital world (which I will not be a part of at launch day) is the future, but some of you just don’t get it!

The depths in which people will justify this console is beyond me. The machine is a spying device plain and simple. From what you watch, do and play they are with the NSA. You are voluntarily like Facebook and twitter adding to their databases info about you for allsorts of purposes that have nothing to do with making our lives better.

"Real Gamer" is subjective. I have both a PS3 and a Xbox 360(play religiously) and I will not be getting a Xbox One. It's pretty clear that Xbox gives out exclusives in the beginning and then goes into media later on. Just because you are not getting one system does not mean you are not a "real gamer". Grow up.

Well I guess Im not a REAL gamer.

The Xbox One policies are about a decade too soon. Most people are not ready for it and to be honest neither am I. It is also more expensive and is weaker than the PS4. I do not have the time for 2 next gen-consoles and PC and Sony have never really let me down, I cant say the same for Microsoft (I got RRoD in 08) and Sony's offering just suites me more, and Im sure their are people out their that want an Xbox One and thats fine by me.

Xbox One makes it so that after you buy a game from a retail store, you have to pay AGAIN online. That and the "always on" is ridiculous. I loved the 360 and it's features, but here microsoft is shooting itself in the foot. Sony has won this round. Microsoft needs to start prepping for the NEXT generation, and this time, they should look at the 360's features, and just add better hardware on it, to play next gen games. And also, they should make it easy to export a gamertag and it's points from the 360 to the next console. Fortunatly, I think the xbox exclusives will be avaliable for 360 for a while.

What. There's no indie lineup- you can't self publish a game on the Xbox One, you need to go through a publisher. That sucks. Look at the guy who made Dust: An Elysian Tail- if not for Microsoft's now-dead self publishing system, that game might not have happened.

You mean the broken game lending system on the Xbox One that requires your account to stay signed in at a friend's house? Yeah, no.

I'm very interested in giving back to developers- but honestly? I haven't always gotten an honest impression from a game's demo. Sometimes they'll shove in all the good stuff into a demo- they'll let you play the best part of a game- and then, when I'm playing the full game, I realize that it's not nearly as good as the demo was.
If not for used games, I might not have played Mirror's Edge. It completely slipped my radar for a few years, and I heard about how good it was well after it came out. I bought it used and became a huge fan, now I'm really excited for the next game.

Mirror's Edge was risky. There's a female protagonist (we know that the industry's nasty undercurrent of sexism makes it hard to sell a game featuring a woman who isn't wearing some horribly revealing costume), the game's not really a shooter but a parkour-based first person adventure- it's a gamble to make a game like that, and AT FIRST, the gamble didn't pay off.
But many people wound up buying the game used after they heard about how good it was.
Now, many people are going to wind up buying the game's reboot because they loved the original.
The used game market brought a game back from what would've been the dead.

And for the record, the Xbox One's going to be useless in a few years. Why? Because Microsoft won't have any incentive to keep the servers up once they're not making money. Once the servers goo down and the Xbox One can't connect, guess what? Your games won't work anymore. My Dreamcast still works. My Playstation still works, and my Xbox original still works, even though these systems are no longer profitable.

You know what won't work? An Xbox One.
