During the E3 Press Briefing Microsoft announced that Xbox LIVE Gold Members would be receiving 2 Free Games a month and that those would be Assassin’s Creed II and Halo 3 in the first month which will start on July and happen on the 1st and the 15th of every month going forward.

Interesting to see whether this'll eventually be as good as PS+

EVILDEAD3603260d ago

Two games for free per month is a good start.

LOGICWINS3260d ago (Edited 3260d ago )

Its already for damn sure better than PS Plus when it started out when the games we got were primarily old Sega Genesis games.

Still, PS Plus may always have the edge regardless of what MS does simply because PS Plus content gets spread out via three different consoles(PS Vita, PS3, and PS4). And PS Plus offers four games per month, not two.

Hadoukameha3260d ago

Rather play a Genesis game than any of that garbage they gave away so far. Chicken kicking, tea bagging, and hay piles are for kids. I don't play that trash.

PS+ is better in its worst months than XBLG, so far.

HammadTheBeast3260d ago (Edited 3260d ago )

Actually, Live has been around for what, 8 or 9 years, only now they are catching up to it.

You could argue about when PS+ started, but in a much shorter timeframe of resistance, PS+ users get Uncharted 3, Infamous 2 and the like, while Xbox User finally got Assassins Creed 2 and Halo 3. Both about 5 years old.

Still, decent start, better late than never.

Free games only will last until November. Thought it was a feature added for Xbox Live, which is temporary.

UNGR3260d ago

It's a nice gesture, but how do we know it ends in November? Craptaku, and some no name journalist said so? I'd have to see if there is a Microsoft source, these to half ass tweets posing as articles aren't really sufficient evidence. It would be great if it ran longer, but then again I could see it ending in November from the lack of titles people would actually want, or be new enough while being affordable for every single XBLG member to download. If anyone has a Microsoft source I'd love to see the link, I'm currently too busy for research due to the fantastic TV series known as Castle.

Virtual_Reality3260d ago (Edited 3260d ago )

Don't worry, people will find out why they stop with the free games when Xbox One launches, is temporary:

ziggurcat3260d ago

@ shoul:

this is only going to last during the months leading up to the release of the xbone. after that, we're S.O.L.

Donnieboi3260d ago

This 2 games a month thing stops in November. This is NOT gonna be like PS Plus.

EVILDEAD3603260d ago

This 2 games a month thing stops in November. This is NOT gonna be like PS Plus.

But the 10 games are yours forever as opposed to when you get rid of the service.

But, again this is early and when ONE drops none of those games will be compatible.

HammadTheBeast3260d ago

That's been confirmed nowhere.

Dread3260d ago

I thought ps plus "free" games were only playable if u r a member so whuy do ou say they are free if once you stop being a member u loose access to the game.

HammadTheBeast3260d ago

Because the main point of PS+ is the huge deals, free game trials, cloud saving and auto updates, free themes and avatars, access to beta and early access to most games, and other stuff like that.

The games are technically free, for $50 you get access to $1000's of dollars worth of games.

Dread3260d ago

@ Hammad

Ok so your renting them

why are u saying its free regadless of the quantity.

Sony will bring out the best in MS, just as MS has brought out the best in Sony. Same situation as last gen, just the roles are now reversed.

Intentions3260d ago

Its been free for a while now.

Starbucks_Fan3260d ago

Why the disagrees? This happened before E3 started lol.

NavydAd3260d ago

Thus is Awesome! I like the fact that you dont get it taken away from you like Sony does!
